Some of the people commenting here didn't even care to read the article properly. They saw nokia and decided to come and troll.
Where did you read 2012 nokia WP phones will have dual-core U8500?!
This is taken directly from the news:
"The CEO also said that over the course of 2012 Nokia will release 12 Windows Phone 7 devices that will be based on FUTURE versions of the U8500 chipset."
And this is from engadget:
"The dual-core U8500, a long-time Nokia favorite, is touted as the first such system-on-chip to appear, with its SUCCESSORS helping to populate Nokia's expansive WP lineup in 2012."
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/20/nokias-windows-phones-will-feature-dual-core-st-ericsson-u8500/
Meaning? The first series of nokia WP7 phones, which will be out in 2011, will have the dual-core U8500 chip. The 2012 models will have faster chips, probably even quad-cores.

[deleted post]sorry but your comment is stupid, i admit nokia n8 is a brilliant phone, with astonishing camera quality, and nice display too, but u msut admit the technology samsung has right now cant be compared with it, added with droid technology it become a beast.
most wanted phone? yes, it was, but now u can see in GSM arena the rating for samsung galaxy s2 is higher now....
maybe ur a nokia fanboy, but admit it kid, nokia is losing it's edge now, maybe later nokia will back to the throne, if they change their attitude towards the market.

i hope nokia will make a WP7 phone with a all rounder technology as samsung galaxy s2, to be honest all my phone up until nowis nokia, and i love this brand, but now i;m gonna move to samsung, why? because nokia always make half done phone, for example if they excel in camera, they have another point that they lacking in, as for my old nokia n95 have too, almost everything was perfect, but the battery life is really poor.
and one more thing, nokia need to act faster if they want to compete with other manufacturer. if not, they will repeat the same mistake again and again.
one question for me is... why nokia take google as it partner and use android as their basis?

AnonD-8158, 22 May 2011the first batch of nokia n8 which doesn't have the amoled s... moreThe first as well as the second batch were from Samsung. In the first batch Nokia had purchased the display along with driver chip. In the second one, Nokia used their own driver chip. That's what caused the problem.
And SGSII looks like iphone 4 ?! Another joke? Which part of its design copies the iphone ? Is it the square home button, S-AMOLED screen, or the front part covered with gorilla glass, or the 8MP camera at the centre, or the textured plastic at the back or the Samsung logo ??

It's for a long time that Nokia talks to use this processor but when they realease a Windows Phone 7 smartphone will be too late because in that time it will have others processors more powerfulls than ST-Ericsson U8500, what it's a cpu that already it isn't new, already it was announced there is more than 2 years, in february of 2009, then in 2012 when that Windows phone is announced that technolgy will have more than 3 years. At that time will appear the Exynos 2GHz dual core, already it will have Tegra 3 and ST-U9500.

i hope nokia's WP7 could catch up to iOS and android.
Nokia phone are quite "heavy" duty both software and hardware but the fact is they are way behind in term of slick design of OS and processing
capabilities of their phone. If that phone would be released tomorrow then ill definitely buy one for sure.

AnonD-40, 22 May 2011If Android didn't come along then we will be stuck with Nok... more"f Android didn't come along then we will be stuck with Nokia and it's 680 MHz phones right now. Android brought progress in the smartphone industry and some companies like Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony and many others capitalized on it. Nokia got left behind because they are slow in making progress and now, they realized that they are failing so bad, they need dump Symbian and go WP just to be able to compete."
That is possibly the dumbest thing I've read in a while. The only reason Nokia are dumping Symbian is because Elop is a f'n moron. He was too much of a wimp to take a gamble on the Symbian 4/Meego strategy, so he decided to back the less risky and familiarly "American" Microsoft brand name in order to compete more aggressively in the US. I don't doubt Windows Phone is a great OS, backed by a very capable software company, but Symbian 3 is also a very good platform. It just needed to be implemented on better hardware (faster processor, greater RAM) and more time to mature into would undoubtedly have become an "excellent" platform. In fact, Nokia were in the process of doing this, right before EFlop came along and started feeding the board of Directors BS about "burning platforms" and competing "disruptions".
I do believe the Microsoft partnership will lead to better phone sales for Nokia, but the same outcome could just as easily have been achieved without the demise of Symbian and Meego. All they had to do was concentrate on WP7/8 in the US market and Symbian in the European/Asian markets.
