27 May, 2011
Nokia started a new campaign to promote its latest Symbian gadgets in India called iDoalotmore. It starts just a day after Apple launched the iPhone 4 there and is available on Nokia's official pages and billboards...

Cod3rror, 28 May 2011Here's a good comparison I read on Phone Arena comment's by... moreWhich gets broken easily? iPhone 4 or N8? iPhone 4 is not the BMW of mobile phones. N8 is probably the most solid and durable touchscreen smartphone to date. Save for the high-specced processor which Symbian does not require, N8 has the best sets of hardware among 2010 smartphones. Camera optics, monospeaker, GPS, Bluetooth, WLAN, 3G radios, HDMI w/ Dolby, USB OTG, N8 has the best in class hardware.
And yes, Symbian phones are second to none when it comes to multimedia. Multimedia covers both creation and consumption. The 12MP camera of the N8 is still not yet bested. The N8 also has best video quality among 720p shooters, not to mention the best in audio quality as well, even beating Samsung's 1080p shooters in video quality. N8, according to M-R, has better audio output quality than iPhone 4. Among 2010 smartphones, only N8 can output 720p via HDMI complete with wide range of formats and subtitle. And about 1080p shoot and playback, let the N8 successor do that and I'm sure it will beat all 1080p capable phones out there. Symbian devices do not only offer more functions but they give the best quality as well. So that Hyundai analogy does not apply to Symbian.

Cod3rror, 28 May 20111100$ for an iPhone would be a good investment, 490$ for th... moreI don't have that kind of money to waste on a phone. I'll be reasonable and pay 360$ and buy a C7. It is essentially an N8 except for camera, HDMI (but has a 3.5mm SD tv-out) and 8GB internal storage instead of 16GB. Everything else is the same.
I'm not a fanboy or hater but I can clearly see that symbian^3 phones really do much more than iphone and at a good price.

P.S. I can't buy a good Cortex-A8/snapdragon android phone either. They are ridiculously expensive here too. If I had money I'd have bought a galaxy S II.

another stupid step by nokia to sell their outdated symbian phones....rather competing with ip4(which is not possible with their current models)....rather they should concentrate on their windows phone lineup..

                    something wrong will happen.

Anonymous, 28 May 2011I wonder if the people making these pro-Symbian and anti iO... moreYes, android and ios are good at multimedia, but denying symbian^3 phones' multimedia capabilities is just ignorance.

They can record quality 720P videos, have a very capable video player with broad format support, 720P playback and even subtitle support, tv-out (HDMI in case of N8 and E7), can play HD games, a very good music player, very good audio quality and radio with transmitter, and they manage to do all this with just an ARM11 processor, thanks to BCM2727 multimedia chip and full hardware acceleration.

You can have a base model BMW 3 series.

                              Will you pick Hyundai? LOL.

India is one of the rare markets where Nokia does have a decent hold yet.... and its slipping fast so they are desperate for the advertisments...

But the joke is that Apple has taken this long to launch "officially" the I-Phone 4 in India. I mean India is a huge huge market and its being really not treated well by Apple. Just for that reason I hope Iphone 4 flops in India as far as the "official" sale figures are concerend

I use an iPhone 4 because I know it's a good product (has it's pros & cons) but I see no reason why Nokia or anyone else for that matter, cannot launch a campaign to promote their products. So long as they are not putting anyone else's product down in any way. Question. Is the tone of this article really necessary? Whatever the answer, I remain a fan of gsmarena.

I think this is the right desicion because if you are a s60 owner, I don't think you will use it till 2016 or later, many people will already change their phones to a droid or something else, so Symbian will become useless, and something useless can't be usefull. This means they must throw Symbian away after some time.

Nokia gives you high resolution screen with natural looking colors, nice camera (even my 2mp), all telephony related features, nice connecttivity, great apps, regular software updates, and smart phone where i can listen to music on my phone and make call at same time, and the person on other side can also hear it!
And all this in phones for prices that start at 7k INR.
                                      What else you want?
