Nokia with Microsoft is the only option they have... and it's one of the biggest gamble in mobile industry. I see this as a gamble which is slightly in favour of Nokia. Nonetheless, good luck with this gamble.

Nokia adopting Android would surely keep them where they are as they would be joining much later than any other competition.

big LOL at all complaining about nokia hardware... WTF you need extra fast processor? Are you a super agent hacking enemy mainframe? Or may be you are supervising manned flight to mars??? Do you remember how America was "Conquered"? - spanish and portuguese sailors took native americans' gold for handfull of shiny glass... please stop advertise iPhone and replicas as "phones" they are just toys with GPRS module.

Law, 02 Jun 2011In the video of this conference at d9. at 4min 40 seconds, ... moreMeego is not an option for Nokia...

That will not leave profits for the survival of the company.

In fact, the meego project is in stand-by, I see no future for Meego or Symbian...W7 is the only option for Nokia to survive :P

They should have bought Palm when it was up for sale, then developed the N8 around that; it had the hardware specs, just would have needed a little beefing up to run a WebOS, instead they got complacent and got burned...

"I own iPhone 4,after i tried with samsung galaxy s,nokia n8,SE x10,Motorola droid, htc desire..hell i even tried the bb torch, they are all SUCK BIG TIME..!!!" You tried 7 Phones in little over a year!!???

And it must be more than just trying them out in the store when you are able to pass judgement over them and say they all suck big time. Either you are just talking trash because they are not iPhones or you haven't really tried them all out over a period of time.

I don't think iOS is a godsent... in fact I think it is the most boring OS out there. Only surpassed in ugliness by WP7 :-)

Well back on topic with the article... Stephen Elop is THE worst think ever to happen to Nokia!

You, idiot NOKIA killed Symbian yourself with your underpowered famous 680 MHZ processors while others was playing with dual core phones. You, now, are out of the competition due to your wrong marketing decisions. You were not able to understand the customers need and demands. Congragulations with your new Windows OS....If you still go with your 'frozen brain' and lack of marketing and wrong decisions it will be your end... Now we lost a very good os like symbian and market will go to triopolly slowly, slowly... How can you make mistakes like this I can't understand...
You tried to update to bella-anna but you realised that you were toooo late....My god....
I'm afraid the story is totally different and an european gsm maker is allready out of the market....
                Congrats....Nokia....congrats.....

Personally, I prefer diversity. Sure, Nokia's teaming up with Microsoft doesn't really add another platform to the market, however, it makes WP7 more competive on the market and in a long run, we all might profit from it since more strong OSes = more competition, ergo: the different platforms try to attract users ...

There's a great and insightful article by Business Week on the decline of Nokia due to mismanagement, why Nokia dumps Symbian and MeeGo, and why they picked Windows Phone 7 instead of Android. The article is here: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/11_24/b4232056703101.htm, highly recommended read!

                              That's it..!!!

I'm sick and tired already with people here talking goodness of dying symbian,a desperate company trying to become at top spot again--you deserve the bottom seat nokia, suck on that--and for people embracing good hardware as their standard for number one phone.

I own iPhone 4,after i tried with samsung galaxy s,nokia n8,SE x10,Motorola droid, htc desire..hell i even tried the bb torch, they are all SUCK BIG TIME..!!!

Name a phone that come out of the box with a superb slick interface, anything but iPhones...None of those could do it,android might get as close to iPhone if you tweak a lot with your phone,as for n8 i had a word for you gsmarena regarding your review about the interface : It definitely is lagging, you just don't admit it in this site, just be honest for God sake your review never even mention lags on touchscreen interface, why?cause all those phones i mentioned above are lagging..out of the box..and stay that way unless you tweak it unlike iPhones that comes out slick right from the start.

Finally to all of you Apple haters & Apple users,it's obvious Apple is great not for the marketing nor great hardware, and none of those copycat iPhone wannabe failed to outrun iPhones because..

                              IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SOFTWARE

Don't trust me?fine, now look at those dual-core smartphones..do any of those giant specs smartphones with their droids outshines iPhone 4 in terms of sale & popularity..just open your eyes for this & wait till a dual-core iPhone come & let's see who gain more fame & profits, and changes everything,again..!!!

Nokia / Windows phone 7 / Android : Nokia could have become one of the biggest fish in the ocean but instead they might end up as the only fish in a dried up well: if nokia had announced the intention to go android in q4 then we'd be counting the days in anticipation but, as things stand it seems as if it's Nokia's days that are numbered

Whih btw will be announced on june 21. Also since the n9 is slim, 11mm max, it will only have 8mp cam, but its still af, not 12mp like shown in the n9 qwety video leak.
Also one last thing, it will be called n950

there you go Nokia fanboys. The CEO had spoken. It's the end of your "crufty" Symbian OS. I'd like to commend Nokia's CEO as he is really honest about the business. Nokia really need to catch up. This happened to Motorola before when they ignored the smartphone market 3 or 4 yrs ago. Motorola learned their lesson the hard way and now they are better in Smartphone compared to Nokia. :)
