I have used HTC handsets for quite a while now, i used them because im not the most up to date but knew how to use the handsets and their lay out. but ive recently been exploring Blackberries and Samsungs and i personally will not be purchasing a new HTD handset.

Buy Samsung Galaxy S II instead of Sensation. It's a much better choice. THe Exynos has better performance and the Galaxy S II beyond the yellow tint doesn't has any more problem, problem that can be resolved, i think.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2011Hope this death grip incident doesn't happen in Singapore. ... moreThat's not saying the death grip issue wasn't always there; in a densely populated area like Singapore, I'd imagine you'd have network reception no matter how "death" you "gripped" your iPhone.
I've been waiting all day now for an update that says this is not a general issue but just one faulty specimen... Capsizing's a terrible thing to happen to any flagship.

I can reproduce this "test" on my desire z as well... If I open wifi analyzer and watch the networks here at work and then put the phone flat on my hand like in the video, I see the signal strength dropping about 10 to 20 dBm.
Never had any problems with it though. To me this just seems like someone creating a problem where there is none, probably just looking for some media attention.

Hope this death grip incident doesn't happen in Singapore. Lucky in Singapore, we didn't suffer the iPhone 4's death grip problem.

AnonD-355, 06 Jun 2011ofcorz i know it. butvit doesnt even matter who came first.... moreSamsung Xed... remember this isn't an article where the author brags about Samsung and dissed the Nokia N8. Its about the HTC antennas. Samsung makes fine products.... but they are not the only company out there making great stuff. Not everyone will agree with you that Samsung is the best. I personally don't feel they are the best at all. I don't think Nokia is either. I just happen to really love my N8 and to slam it and totally dismiss the prowess of its camera is just not cool. I've been using the N8 for a few weeks now and could not imagine ever buying a phone without a camera like this. Its that awesome.

Copy/paste from XDA forum, I think it says it all:
"Hey Guys
The moderator on the Vodafone Uk has asked for people who having same issues to report it......
"Hi all
As yet we don’t have enough examples of this issue to raise a fault to our device team.
We do need a minimum of ten Vodafone customers and also full details of their firmware versions before we can do this. I also have a Vodafone branded Sensation and haven’t encountered any issues with loss or drop in signal, and it’s not a widespread issue that’s been discussed throughout this eForum as yet.
So if anyone is suffering this issue on their Sensation, please add your firmware details to this thread, and we can raise this for further investigation once we have the required number. To get your firmware version:
Select Settings > About Phone > Software Information – then make a note of the number under Software number in my case 1.27.161.1
Let me know if you’ve any further questions.
Regards
Trev

If this turns out to be fact (seems to be disputable at this point?), then I hope HTC will show the decency to step up and apologise for this and actually do something to solve this apparent design issue for all affected handsets. You know, if only to show Apple how to treat a loyal customer base. Lying, blame-shifting and other such blatant demagoguery won't work anymore after Apple's debacle.

EndlessDream94, 05 Jun 2011So why are you dissing on the Nokia N8? And picking on its... moreBrand A fanboy (in what would be a very unrealistic and very unlikely scenario in real life) opts for a Brand B product over Brand A, but then, soon enough, realizes Brand B is so terrible that he just has to go back to his perfect Brand A. And then, he comes out with his "personal experience" on forums like these to let others know how bad Brand B really is (even though his arguments are ludicrous), and how perfect Brand A is in comparison to Brand B. Same old boring, repetitious story we've been hearing all these years.

Your update is a load of bull. You just made up this 'physically blocking the antenna' stuff. Although the design is different, the issue is the same as the iPhone and most phones on the market. Your hand is acting as a conductor and detuning the antenna. To mitigate the issue, you want to insulate the antenna from your hand. A secondary cheap layer of plastic will do the job. Yeah, a case.
