HTC Sensation suffers from death grip, iPhone 4 caught snickering

05 June, 2011
Looks like there might be trouble in paradise for HTC fans. Nordic Hardware’s tests have proven that the new HTC Sensation also suffers from the same dreaded death grip as the iPhone 4 but...

In theory the bigger or longer the antenna then the better the signal however in this case it seems that it has made things worse when holding/touching it much like the the iPhone 4 issue. Samsung on the other hand have simply located the antenna inside on the bottom of the phone which appears to have been the right choice. Not sure if its a widespread issue but shame nonetheless.

i have also the same problem the wifi signal is completely down or no signal response when i hold the sensation. i purchased it yesterday
from mobile shop in karachi pakistan.
The battery life of the sensation is very bad only 6 hours then it will die so i recharge the battery 2 times in a day.
in pakistan sensation price is RS.59,800 i think i sale out this worst dualcore mobile set and purchase LG G2X or SAMSUNG GALAXY SII.

[deleted post]the SGS2's so-called yellowing issue is overblown. I challenge you to walk into a phone store and try the phone out on hand - bet you won't see sh*t.

not so sure why you're so happy with a phone that's already obselete on release.

I sent my sensation back because of this problem. Using the phone in landscape with hands holding it on either end and wifi signal would drop. Wifi would go from full signal to zero when the top of the phone was covered. I suspect a cover would just increase the problem.

[deleted post]sry buddy, i disagree. I hate SE UI, it's pathetic. Hopefully HTC will fix this issue(it it's true). HTC/Samsung = Best!

              Hear Hear

Well after using the device for a week now this is all i have to say

              Build quality is excellent

Wifi, bluetooth and phone calls do drop and suffers from the death grip

But here is the thing, like the Iphone you dont get much drop calls or signal disruption when you are in good areas where all bars are full

Also it strikes me as a blessing in disguise with the WiFi.For example weaker signals dont often get captured by the Sensation as to the Galaxy S2.So in a way mostly you load faster to the connection that you want to connect instead of some stray far away signal that sucks. So fewer connection avaliable means you wont click on the wrong Wifi channel

The only thing i really hate is the bluetooth.Streaming audio through bluetooth headsets can really suck so bad that you need to refresh and reconnect. If you dont give a fuck about bluetooth headsets then rejoice!

Other than that image and audio quality is great.Enjoy the phone!

              Cheers to Sensation users

Both SG II & Sensation proved to have some major flaws! The samsung with it's yellowish colors on the screen and the htc with it's antenna problem.

Yes, this indeed proves that specs mean nothing if there is no quality! This all proves that the SE Xperia arc is the best andriod phone till date! Yes it's a single core but it kicks a* and the quality is really high compared to the huge issues found on samsung.

Enjoy your defected dual core phones and let us enjoy the best experience + looks with the Arc.

[deleted post]So why are you dissing on the Nokia N8? And picking on its camera? Have you ever used one? I use to use the Samsung Galaxy S and couldn't stand all the apps (and Android) crashing all the time... so I switched to the Nokia N8. And to my surprise its a much better phone. The Galaxy is a fine piece of hardware in terms of call quality, but the OS is not as stable. And the 12mp camera isn't "just" about the megapixels. Its got a few things the Galaxy does not... Carl Zeiss, Flash. Also the 720p video capture may be less frames per second, but its not noticeable. And the audio quality is far above the Samsung. Wind noise is sooo loud on the Samsung... not on the N8. AND the N8 will also allow zoom while recording in 720p that adjusts the resolution so even while zoomed its still recording in 720. Seriously the N8 is a great phone and the build quality is tops. Just not sure why the N8 had to be a victim here in a discussion about a cheap plastic HTC with bad antennas. And seriously - in light of what happened with Apple's iPhone 4 you'd think ALL manufactures would have checked themselves to make sure THEY TOO would never have that problem. Shame on HTC... moreso than Apple!

You should tell that to the person I replied to.

When i said browser is unusable I wasn't referring to flash. What I mean is that Symbian 3 stock browser are the worst ones ever. They lag like hell and users are forced to use opera. Opera browser even on older S60 devices were much better than stock symbian 3 browser. Problems is not just lagging, its also usability (ease of use) and loading times that are way below par.

"Secondly, the Homescreen does not lag. That's a myth, and the homescreen isn't designed to move with your finger"

If thats not an issue then why are they "fixing" it with latest update ?

"Every OS crashes on the odd occasion, depending on what Apps you download to it"

I dont know if its me, but the symbian devices seem to reboot itself quite more often.

First, the browser is useable. I don't know what your definition of "unuseable" is (Absence of Flash hasn't dented the iphone/ipad sales), it works fine for me.

Secondly, the Homescreen does not lag. That's a myth, and the homescreen isn't designed to move with your finger.

No portrait is correct, but I can see why Nokia left it out.

Not sure what you mean by Synching issues. Never had a problem.
