If the SAR Values would be OK, it would be a nice Multimedia Phone -
but with those levels, it is sadly a No-GO.

This big bezels are just not acceptable. It could be on par with Samsung, LG, etc flagships but bezels alone make this phone outdated.

The world isn't moving away from 16:9.
It's still the dominant aspect ratio when it comes to TVs, PCs, Laptops, Tablets, and currently Phones. It's also the dominant aspect ratio when it comes to Movies, TV Shows and Video Games. And its the dominant aspect ratio when it comes to people recording Videos.
While I'm not saying 16:9 is perfect, what I'm saying is that 16:9 phone is inheritely superior to a 15:9 phone or a 17:9 phone due to not needing letterboxing for the masses of content out there, and the masses of content that will be there in the future.
What these new phones with 19:9 aspect ratios are doing is, they are NOT shaving off the bezels, they are merely HIDING the bezels under a thin layer of display. Its very deceptive. A much much better approach would be to keep the current 16:9 ratio and shave off those bezels so that you have a Screen to Body ratio in excess of 75%, preferably around 80-85%. Any higher, such as 90%, then you run into issues with the phone's sturdiness and accidental touches which is not good. The bezels do have a function of having someplace small to hold, protect the display from scratch/cracking, and store the necessary front IO such as the front-facing camera(s) and the front-facing speaker(s).

Sony really does not have anything special, compared to rivals, what it comes to quality.
They all have the same amount of faults, no manufacturer is better than others. Just wondering, why are the fans denying it? If one can google these easily, why would you try to deny the truth? My phone model also has it's typical faults (not my unit personally, but other people have gotten bad units), that's not hard to say. :-D Even if you personally are always lucky and only got good units, there are always bad ones out there.

I am one of the owners of first Sony Xperia (not the Xperia with Ericson co branding) at it's still working. The music player is awesome like no other music player in the play store.

While I voted for hot, imo the full sized XZ1 is more hot adjacent as I'm really interested in the compact. However, it is good having another OEMs that has resist phabletosis.

I used to be the biggest HTC fan. But in time i though i should try something different. So i went with Xperia Z. I chose it because it had the following features :
- SD card slot
- Waterproofing
- Cool monolithic design (i hate round devices)
After 3-4 years, i have nothing but good things to say about it :
- I'm into rooting my phones and Sony provides official bootloader unlocking on their website
- the updates are the fastest after the nexus/pixels
- The software is incredibly stable (I've debloated to the max the system and not once i got an FC)
- The quality build is outstanding! Besides some very minor scratches, the phone is in perfect condition and i never used a case. Not to mention it seen some pretty nasty falls.
Considering that it's almost 2018 and the phone was released in 2013, Sony did a very good job. I'm still using my phone and i don't feel that i need to upgrade to a better model.
How many china phone users can say this about their replicas?
After so many years, the only other brand I'd go with would be Sammy, BUT:
- I'm afraid the display will brake on the smallest fall on the ground.
- I hate using cases and bumpers.
- If you try to root your Sammy phone you void it's warranty, not to mention you PERMANENTLY loose things like knox and pay FOREVER!
It seems Sammy doesn't want you to have administration rights on their phones.
Well I'm sorry, but I'm too smart to use a phone like a regular person. I'm not a brainwashed sheep.
I'm currently considering XZ1 or XZP as my next phone but I'm not in a hurry just yet.

This is a phone that Sony should've released in 2015 to compete with the S6, not with the S8 in 2017.

Voted not MAINLY because of the design. I've held sony phones in my life. and I just didn't feel it's comfortable. sure. the dual front speakers are awesome. And the bezels are decent enough (atleast imo. and in my experience) I also find it irritating that the audio jack is on top. it's annoying for me that it's not in the same side as the charge port. (due to the fact when you're charging in the bus. you can't put it upside down when also listening to music.
Hot: IS PLENTY. the preformance is outstanding, the triluminous display is the BEST I've seen. second only to OLED displays. (again. from my experience) impressive camera. gorgeous video preformance.
and yet. for me the NOT outweighs the HOT. so that's the decision. ^^;
