No matter what they do, ALL OLED screens are going to burn in. It's true for Note 8 too. It's the nature of the technology.
IPS LCD is better than any OLED.

But this is a very unlikely scenario for burn-in to happen for a typical user. The extreme unlikely parameters required to recreate this issue! There is no real user will keep the static image for hours together on display. Even retail edition would use change in screen images! This issue was typically tried many years back by Apple fans to put down Samsung. Now Apple itself embracing the same AMOLED display by giving different surnames!!

My Samsung LCD TV stopped exactly after three years(where warranty stops) whereas my LG TV(not OLED though) still rocking after 5 years! Though it's speaker volume gone down significantly! Any replacement I will most likely go with OLED LG TV in the future

Eh, that’s the problem with LG OLEDs which are still less mature. I have the same on their TV after a couple months, where the Witcher 3 UI is.

OLED, samsung or LG or any company will always have the burn-in problem..it's just they have different approach.... But inevitably, burn-in can't be avoided..

Pixels phones are highly overrated. They have bland designs, thick ugly bezels. Now I hear they have ordinary displays.....uuugggghh!

Fulljack, 23 Oct 2017not really, LG just not really that good at making OLED panels.Not realy even samsung cant keep up with LG in competing large OLED diaplays, LG oled television is the best in the world and samsung and other tv manufacturers have nothing to offer in the market on large scales.. This only shows that LG is superior on OLED technologies.

Sure, it could be the first batch. I know someone with an image retention problem on his G5 (but I really like that phone) and he says it can be solved by replacing the display under warranty (when he gets around to actually doing it), I remember he got that phone early on when it was released. Of course you need to read all possible reviews if you're interested in a phone, and, well, if it's just at 30% brightness it's not such a big deal. With AM/OLED, very low brightness is sometimes a problem - for example if there's an image with a gradient towards black, looking at it in the dark, some pixels that are too dark (but still not black) are turned off. But at least I don't see spots on pics with no gradient. :-) So, yeah, let's see what happens next.

I have read each and every review existing on internet concerning the LG V30, its display, its sound, design, flaws and virtues (as well as nearly every video concerning the V30). The Verge is the only one that made this look so awful (it was even able to waver my long trust and love for LG), precisely this sentence "The OLED screen of the V30 is just bad" (i never heard this sentence in any of the videos concerning the V30). But i am not a guy that reads 1 review and makes its judgement with it (oh and of course, i dont read just reviews, i check out forums and comments every other day to see what buyers think of the V30s problems and what are their experiences with it). From the moment the POLED problem appeared on internet, i grew an extra pair of ears and eyes so i wouldnt miss a single thing. I dont know the precise number for how many posts about V30s screen problem i have read, but the one thing was common with every post except the Verges, the V30s display will be deal breaker for some people, but it isnt the big problem, and even every other function on it compensates for the screen (just to mention, not all LG V30s have this problem, some are fine and it could be as well the problem of the 1st batch of screens). As well as that the V30s display is by far better then the most of other displays on market except Samsungs AMOLED. The problem appears when you are in dark room and your brightness on phone is on about 30% or less on grey background. I dont quite buy phones and on purpose try to find their weaknesses, i saw a lot of people commenting that they didnt encounter a problem and that they wouldnt just deliberately try to find it out. And last and most important, my last comment was talking about Pixels burn in, so you literally missed the topic, but okay, you got my answer even though our argumentation was supposed to be on topic for LG V30s color imbalance problem and not on Pixels burn in. Sorry for the long comment :)
