On the other hand, amoled burn is permanent and cant be fixed, unless by replacing the screen.

Internet is full of samsungs amoled burn in reports.
Its just Samsung now uses a trick to avoid this...constant movement of onscreen softbuttons....
Otherwise, every oled screen has the same serious tech shortcoming of burn in....
Just dont ever leave an oled based screen active with static picture for longer time...you ll get burnin.
Also you ll get a serious screen burnin in any case of SoC overheat below the screen.
Give me a quality lcd over that kind of tech anyday..

There’s no dodging this issue, and there’s no making excuses for it. This isn’t a good display, and if your phone doesn’t have a good display it might as well be a Nokia 5110.

Areas of the same color on the V30 appear blotchy: when I open up a Google Keep note, I don’t get a flat white canvas as I should, but instead I see streaks of gray, looking as if there’s an inconsistent backlight. This being an OLED display, there’s no backlight to speak of, so it’s just poor brightness uniformity across those light-emitting diodes. The same unhappy effect is even more pronounced with darker grays and colors like navy blue, and it’s amplified by the V30’s apparent inability to render color gradations smoothly. Gradients appear grainy and I see unpleasant color banding, exactly the same issues that Ars Technica encountered with a preproduction V30 device last month."

I think it was a mistake to trust LG with a Pixel. LG have barely started making LEDs again after the catastrophe that was the G flex and G flex 2, so there are a lot of growing pains they need to go through before their panels can be competitive with Samsung. I guess that makes the vanilla Pixel 2 the only option for this year.

I had used lg g4 & g5. G4 suffered from screen burn in & then bootlooped. G5 started burn in after 2month of usage. I'm not wealthy to loose such amount of money so i sold the g5 before it suffer from bootloop. Never trust lg again.

That's the difference with the big brands and the small ones. The big ones seldom have trivial annoying out of the blue issues (Note 7 aside).

I came here just to see that people will say its LG fault. How come V30 doesnt suffer from burn in and its almost 2 months on market and Pixel is not even 2 weeks? If you have read some articles you would have know that Google did some calibration to Pixels screen and so that can be a cause of this burn in (because of those calibrations Pixel doesnt suffer badly from those POLED problems that V30 has). Like 3-4 months ago LG said that they took extra measures to secure V30s display from getting burn ins (by controlling each pixels intensity/brightness separately). And dont just try to get something against LG just because you dont like it. Here, take a look at report from AA about screen problems this year: "In fact, there were also complaints that the S8 had a pinkish display. The Nexus 6 screen was reported to be too yellow, as was the Nexus 5X’s. The OnePlus 5, meanwhile, was said to have a wobbly screen when scrolling fast. Then there were comments regarding a “screen flicker” on the LG G6 earlier this year too." And this one as well: "However, after reading comments from people who now say they will pick up a Galaxy S8 instead of the Pixel 2 XL, there’s something I must point out: there were complaints about screen burn-in on that device, too." If you think that there is a phone without a single problem, you must be mad.

Mary, 23 Oct 2017Trust me Sony phones are not very good, their skin is hideo... moreThat's your opinion and I respect that, but sorry to beg you because I am a witness of my friend who is a Sony smartphone user for over 2 years already and her smartphone has been as flawless as it was in the first day, inside and out. Yes, it has a protective cover, but the simple thing about being as fast as it was on the first day that she got it, with so many apps and contents installed for over the years, is a very mind-blowing amazement.
Do that with a S5 and I'll bet for death, it won't be as nicely smooth as any Xperia smartphone in the same era.
