Anonymous, 31 Oct 2017Nokia committed suicide. Apple will too. No company is to... moreAgain, you think copying is bad. It's not, it's the lifeblood of the industry. If anything being an innovator comes with a penalty. You have to both copy and innovate, but mostly copy.

Nokia commited suicide because she didn't follow the times. Now it's the rest that don't compared to Apple.

Apple on the other hand offers the tallest screen of all which is best for messaging (everybody is using messaging apps these days, it's the primary use of smartphones).
The smallest device than all flagships (regardless of what androids say, people *still* prefer it pocketable)
Instant unlock (nobody would be as fast as Apple, of course they have to deliver high presicion cameras).
Best camera (Finally!) according to Dx0

It's the lines on which the industry is moving along, and Apple with iPhone X followed them *exactly*. If Nokia's story tells us something, it's not that she died despite being too big (it is known that big companies die in a jiffy, look at 1929 for goodness sake or even 2008... it's happening for centuries), it's that she stopped trying.

Apple *seemed* to be on the same path as Nokia (rehashing old designs). But iPhone X breaks that mold ... so you come on iPhone X's thread to tell that Apple follows Nokia's fate?

On the thread dealing with the very product that altered Apple's course for decades?

Heh, excuse my chuckle, but I find it ironing. iPhone X is a historic release, because it shows that Apple has a fight in her ... unlike Nokia ... or Motorolla, or Ericsson...

I was saying for years that Apple was dying, and indeed she was. No new ideas, nothing. iPhone X proves me wrong ... I'm changing my opinion, Apple will live.

For the first time owners of iPhone will taste the old screen made for Samsung. Before later than never.

Apple will too. No company is too big to fail especially one which is one trick pony. Nokia was and is a core telecommunication company with patents which Apple steals.
Gesture navigation. Huh blackberry and symbian had that years ago
Same for FPS. Check Motorola for that
Their 699 $ phones run on HD resolution while competition offers better screen than iPhone x for that price
Not to mention that beautiful Cyclops notch which raises its design a notch 'above' competition. All that for a price of kidney in Mexico. Thanks but no thanks

Who's to kill Apple? I see no contenders.

The chip of the rest is a million years behind (seriously SD 845 is looking to surpass A9 in single core perf ... 2 years late)

Battery was light years ahead (of Apple's competitors) but it is now back to earth mostly because they killed their own competitive advantage (instant recharge, almost infinite autonomy) by removing removable batts.

Feature-wise iPhone is a million years ahead in navigation (gesture navigation coming, FP ID one handed before anyone else, etc) as well as software (game and often app) exclusives.

Screen wise, some of the rest were ahead, but w the new amoled, there is no such gap anymore.

In general it's the *rest* that are lagging behind, that's why I believe that iphone X would sell at whatever price they're gonna set.

Nokia would not had died if they'd taken the android route. Apple (basically) does (by copying)...

You can't maintain business logic on excessively high priced phones.

Apple has set a dangerous precedent at the current prices its charging for phones.

Perhaps a boutique brand maybe more apt for this company, because in terms of technology it offers nothing new or innovative.

The writing is on the wall. This company will eventually follow the Nokia path.

Time will be the ultimate decider.

Apple made it to the club of the bigs because of the incredible 00s ... only now they're getting the full effect of their decisions then. Likewise, '10s would effect them fully in 2020s ... which means that they need to do something and fast. Build their *future* legacy.

Smartwatches never panned out, laptops , PC and tablets are on their way out (mostly the first two , tablets are middling right now), and their smartphone stopped raising bars for a couple of years now.

iPhone X *is* their way to survive into 2020s ... or even thrive if possible. I can see that the things that iPhone X is doing (and iphone X1 will do better) being the benchmark for future phones.

All-screen, AMOLED, big screen yet pocketable, AR, Face recognition.
If iPhone X is the first to do them *right*, believe me, they should expect a run like the original (non X) iphone (up until iphone 7). Something to keep them at the top for the following decade.

Depending on how well they will continue this line (X+) it will make or break Apple's future (as a whole). It's a huge release and like with the original iphone , contemporaries don't see it (many were making light of the orignal iphone, I was there I remember, I was telling them "wake up, it will revolutianize everything, it's issues are all *easily* fixable")... but even them will return to 2017 and remember how Apple saved themselves (probably).

It's a pivotal moment that articles like the above don't make them justice and -really- don't get them...

Maybe you should get a phone to review first before declaring you don't like a phone. That's normally what reviewers do. I have never seen a reviewer "review" a phone from photo and spec sheets and talk about muscle memory.
