AnonD-4254, 29 Oct 2017Guys, there is a question lingering in my mind since a lot ... moreThe answer is simple:

If you just "cut" the bezels of a 16:9 phone, you reduce the internal volume which is needed to fit the internal components. This is very hard to do (but Huawei P10 did it recently).
The "solution" is to elongate the screen (and find some obscure explanation for this, like LG did with "Univision" 18:9 format), but keep the phone size the same, so that the internal space still has room for all the components.

Dying companies' symptom: lack of loyal fans coupled with dwindling amounts of capital, be it from stock and profit.

My father invested in a company's stock whose product profolio was a more power efficient CPU. It was ahead of its time and unable to compete with the market. That company was in fact dying.

There was always the performance and battery degradation issues Samsung phones have. Also, the edge is unusable. I actually have a problem with that edge getting in the way of everything. Plus the iPhone X body design looks much better. And Apple gives their phones some serious life; the physical phone fails before Apple stops providing it with updates. Samsung doesn't beat Apple in that category.

This is coming from an Android fan who prefers Sony, LG, Nokia, Redmi, Honor, amongst some select few brands.

Irritating face ID, why Apple unable to remove it, let all be bezelless. Let everything in front of the phone is all display, now that's we call technology. However I must admit the specs, nice chipset and specs, very very fast

Plus force people to change to a new trend, shake the developer market, etc. But worse for the customers and their wallet.

Guys, there is a question lingering in my mind since a lot of time....
To make a fuller screen, why do we necessarily shift to 18:9?

Can't we have a shorter phone with 16:9 full screen bezel-less display?
Wouldn't that be the best of all worlds?

I couldn’t agree with the author more.

Maybe over time I’d be able to get over the ugly ears. But losing Touch ID is too much. I can’t imagine a scenario where double tapping the screen THEN waiting for the phone to recognize your face THEN swiping up is faster than pressing a home button. How many times do you unlock your phone a day? A hundred times? A thousand times? I’m sure some do. Maybe face unlock only adds a second to the process. Well that’s an extra 16 minutes a day you’re wasting unlocking the phone then you were using the old process.

I really hope to be proven wrong here.

The iPhone 7 Plus has an IP rating, so in ones everyday life, it is actually better than the 6s Plus. So does the 8.
In this article a scenario for using the phone while cooking is mentioned.
So I would say the author definately has a reason for upgrading.
Even if that will be for the slighly outdated 7, that comes with a price advantage over the newest releases.

Simon, 29 Oct 2017The cyclops design is a complete no-no to me, not to mentio... morePretty much what I said about the IPhone 8 and the upcoming IPhone 9. Apple has to make a phone that can either match or surpass the standard that the IPhone X set this year. I don't think many long time IPhone users will accept an IPhone 9 that follows the same design standard that the IPhone 8 has set. Rather they want another IPhone X or something similar to it.

Is it not possible just to hold the phone upside down? And get all the benefit of the big screen without the notch interfering?

Only use i see for t... moreBeing the most expensive phone it's surprising it probably won't have gigabit download speeds. Don't know why I have to explain it, but the speed isn't about how much you download, it's how fast a page or a map pops up. With how expensive the phone is, even if it takes a while for the carriers to offer these speeds, most people will own the phone for longer. I had one of the first LTE phones and using a 4s online was a joke.

Honestly, I would agree with the author, but I'm surprised to see a topic this personal being raised.

See, companies do leave stuff out for the next generation to complete. Its true for all.

Guess what is missing from Galaxy Note 8? Yes, better specs in slow motion video recording, whereas the Exynos 9 chipset supports 4K@120fps, the best note 8 does is 720p@240. Also missing is a good location for Fingerprint sensor...

Now, you are hanging on to Iphone 6S, then why will Apple make the perfect phone?
I for one, have all the right reasons to get the Galaxy S7 even today.
