2toyzki, 20 Jun 2011there will be no x9. X,C and E series will only be up to 7-... moreThey are trying to get more in to emerging market that's why the give more preference to S40, since pople just wanna buy a phone not just by performance but also for price, and S40 models are already for these.
Here in Latin America people buy more med ranged phones since they are not as expensive, however, when the nore expensive comes to sale people are already to buy it but in less quantity. For every N8 they sold 100 X3 and so on..
X9 is just a prototype no one knows if they will be realesed or is just rumors....
http://planetared.com/2011/03/nokia-x9-el-posible-sucesor-del-x6-estaria-en-camino/
But like I said befor Nokia has a very strong presence here in Latin America, I dont know but maybe they want to make more profits here than europe or even asia, by selling low-middle cost phones.

AnonD-4697, 20 Jun 2011Well remember there's also rumors about Nokia X9 running Sy... morethere will be no x9. X,C and E series will only be up to 7-xx. 8,9 levels are for N series only.
As for the news, il take it with a handful of salt.
I cant understand why nokia is ditching symbian instead of s40.
They shud put symbian in the lowest end to low-mid range instead of s40. This way they could stil earn from symbian which is a better choice than s40.
And if i may suggest, they should produce an android phone even atleast once a year.

Anonymous, 19 Jun 2011Well Actually WIndows Phon 7 is FULLY Multitasking OS. ... moreWRONG, WP7 even with mango does not fully support true multitasking like Android devices. WP7 mango supports key functions multitasking such as music player and web browser but aside from that no. This was even explained in a video demoing WP7 mango.

Funny how Steven Elop said they couldn't just give symbian these kind of specs to justify switching from Symbian and Maemo, then for the company to come out and potentially make him eat his own words.
Elop is killing Nokia from the inside out for personal gain (his microsoft shares).

A 1GHz processor in a S40 device in it's current state is implausible. The S40 devices lack multi-tasking so a 1GHz processor to run java apps seems a little far-fetched. That's unless the S40 devices are now been primed to take up the slack from Symbian, if that's the case I'd like to see more far-reaching development in that regards. The java engine should be worked on and made to something reminiscent of Blackberry OS And given more-far reaching capabilities. Multi-tasking should be top of the priorities of the reworked OS. I've always loved S40 DEVICES but they lack of Multi-tasking has made me always pick S60 or UIQ

Nokia is the most sucessfull company in making phones that no one cares about. It's an amazing rival to Samsung Jet, too bad we aren't in 2009. And last but not least this will be an amazing phone as soon as someone ports android or wp7 to it.

Well remember there's also rumors about Nokia X9 running Symbian^4
The Nokia X9 is believed to be the successor to the Nokia X6, complete with a 1GHz Cortex A8 chipset, 12-megapixel camera with LED flash, HDMI and a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, there’s HSDPA, WiFi and aGPS, along with 32GB of onboard storage and a 3.5mm headphone socket.
The Symbian^4 device is expected to be capable of 720p HD video recording,
So, there's the next generation Nokia phones, looks promising.

AnonD-79, 19 Jun 2011Win Phone7 + S40. 2 in 1 handset. most likely. That defeats the purpose of S40. S40 was meant to be cheap and WP will not make it cheap.

S^3 will be rebranded as S40 and have some of its smartphone features stripped. That's my Not so humble opinion and this thing, if it is true, will disrupt the featurephone market.
It can also be that the manager who tweeted it was drunk. lol

Anonymous, 19 Jun 2011Wow! Even faster than my E7 & N8 (lol!!!)Well faster is quite realative, i have seen a tutorial that teach how to overclock the nokia N8/E7 up to 2Ghz, many ppl told that the cpu is underclocked for battery saving and or heat problens, if this is really possible nokia n8 can became much faster than even Dual-cores lime Atrix (wich isnt that fast at all on some stuff) and the only Overclock i have read about of a dual core is a 1,2 to 1,5 ghz SGSII, if symbian doent need a 1Ghz cpu to do his job i wonder why put a processor capable of 2ghz, maybe it could be there for future updates that will really need that potencial, but meanwhile why not? if u phone already got out of warranty XD
