HTC's used to be the King of headphone jacks and now it doesn't even include one lol. Nothing can properly replace it yet. Bluetooth 5.0 is still inconsistent with my testing on two different devices that offer it (OnePlus 5 & Note 8). And the dongles some companies include in the box are rubbish. With the exception of the new Razer phone which AT LEAST has a built in DAC into their dongle. Google (Android) themselves are making it hard for headphone/manufacturers to make good USB C alternatives which is why this thing sucks for us consumers!

Well, the design is obviously better (in my opinion) as the bezels are now smaller and this is actually one of few good-looking HTC's. Design-wise, great job. However, I still remember my One M8 too well (felt like HTC totally ripped me off, nowhere near worth the original asking price I paid). So I'm doubtful I'll ever use my own money and get one of their phones again. 2 different models were enough. :-)

How many phones ship with good quality ANC buds? HTC has removed the jack, but it's given a solution far superior than the former.

Pretty pathetic. All other markets EXCEPT the US seem to get the better phones while we get the minimum spec units at stupid prices.

acemang, 02 Nov 2017you can use your 3.5 headphones with the adaptor provided. ... moreI'm glad to see some people still use their brains and not make a tragedy of the fact that the 3.5mm jack is gone from a frigging phone. But like someone else said, children are always going to complain, even though you explained that one can live perfectly fine without it.
For the people saying removing 3.5mm has nothing to do with waterproofing: of course it does, use your brains. Extra hole in the case, means extra measures have to be taken to keep it watertight. It's not impossible, just harder. Some phone makers just don't want the hassle anymore.
For the people praising the high quality and immortality of the 3.5mm jack, please explain to an electronics engineer the intricacies of a connector with just 3 frigging not at all special wires coming out of it.

Everything else, far from the truth. The 3.5mm jack is dying anytime soon. If anything, thanks to cheap, amazing audiophile gear coming out from China, it'll only stay.

Despite bluetooth audio making great strides with bluetooth 4.0 onwards & the recent inclusion of Aptx/LDAC technology (provided your phone enables/has it. Still uncommon), it's still LESS SUPERIOR than their wired counterparts. It's also the most used connector OUTSIDE of smartphones e.g car audio, desktop amplifier & speakers... to name a few, so removing it is an inconvenience.

This ISN'T THE SAME like when CD players were replaced by iPods/Mp3 players.

There hasn't been any tech that surpasses the 3.5mm jack/wired audio production costs, convenience or sound quality, yet.

Why don't you talk about iPhone 8, 8 Plus bezels? Most of smartphones removed headphone jack and most of you accept it, except hTC smartphones. If you check previous news about U11 Plus, you may see 4000 mAh battery, but people still complaints. WTF? Do iPhone, Samsung or another devices have 4000 mAh and thich 8.5 mm? Of course, Not! You just read someone's comment and don't think with your brain, just a complaint. hTC released many things and many companies still use them. Whatever, Haters are going to hate!

I was eagerly waiting on this phone to arrive, but with availability only in Europe and Asia, i dont see how i'll be able to use it in US. As with most non-US phone models, its modem is probably missing a few crucial high speed frequencies, used by the likes of AT&T, Verizon and TMobile.
