AD, 26 Nov 2017If you want AMOLED, buy a Samsung. It's their own OLED tech... moreWell I was going to get the Note 8 or S8+ but while the screen is amazing, it feels like a toy. Seen a fair few Note 8's already cracked too. I loved the Note 7 to death, I even had it right up till the last recalls were allowed. This is just my opinion.
I got the V30 instead, amazing build (military grade), great footprint, beautiful screen (absolutely nothing wrong with POLED coming from Note7/Huawei Honor Note 8 AMOLED), really useful wide angle lens and the audio from the quad DAC is insane paired with decent earphones. No weird fingerprint reader to boot. ;)

And yes, since the Honor brand is cheaper there will surely be some trade offs. Don't feel bad about buying a premium device unless you feel like you've been ripped off.

In time we can observe differences on the software side - updates, VoLTE support, etc. This are only some of the things you pay for with a premium device.

Based on the price range, I don't think it will has the Leica branded and yes it has kirin 970 chipset probably some of the AI function might be limited.

Perhaps it's the Huawei Note 9 in disguise. Awaiting reviews GSM!

The optic captures better and has less noise, even with a little bit high iso. But yeah, when no configuration is needed, then it is the same.

Zenodroid, 07 Nov 2017Leica also brings less noise in pictures :-) In daylight, both honor 8 pro and mate 9 produce 100% same quality even pixel peeping. Only in indoor/low lights mate 9 shows some advantages because it has OIS. But the difference are small. The leica brand share is only for marketing I suppose apart from that vivid and smooth color mode, thats why it price higher. But I dont mind that, it stills perform top quality.
