iPhone 5 coming in September, iPad with Retina display and more

22 June, 2011
The Apple WWDC event came and passed this month without an iPhone announcement for the first time since they launched the original 2G in 2007. Speculations about the launch date of the iPhone 5 (or 4S)...

            Like it or not, Apple IS thinking ahead, they have a great bussiness strategy, and they design their products with style.

            The biggest in this post is actualy the "It seems that a cheaper iPhone is in the works, intended for developing countries." and "Apple is thinking of "reinventing" the TV segment with its own iOS-wearing-big-screen-flaunting TV. Yes - an Apple HDTV"

            To me, this makes A LOT of sense. Android devices are getting ever more popular and we all saw Nokia N9 with MeeGo yesterday which is a pretty inovative device Nokia. My point? Apple needs to broaden their reach. By making a cheaper phone it can reach more people, simple as that. As for the HDTV - just look at the iMac... you really think Apple is not capable of making fantasticly designed big screens? And they would sell like crazy because every iPhone, iPad user will want the best compatible AirPlaying their content on a big, beautifull screen.

            Like i said at the begging, Apple is thingking ahead! ;)

                      I would be extremely surprised if Apple released a third iPad any time in this calendar year when the ipad 2 was only released on April 8th of this year, because it would be a pretty dramatic shortening of Apple's normal lifecycles and if anything would reduce consumers confidence in Apple introducing a single product update each year, by making them skeptical of how soon the version they buys will become a previous generation device.

                        2048x1536 = 263.92 PPI -> Retina is "> 300 PPI" !!!!!!!

                                Anonymous, 22 Jun 2011iPhone 4 has A4, 1Ghz single-core, A5 is 1Ghz Dual-coreIt doesn't matter how many cores you stuff in it, increasing the resolution requires increased GPU power, not CPU. And don't tell me that whatever Apple puts in there is going to be enough for 3D gaming, because even the AMD Brazos e350 stands no chance at that resolution, nevermind anything that's supposed to fit into a tablet.

                                    GSM Arena is correct, there has been a new iPhone debuted every month of June by Apple every year since it's first introduction to the world in June 2007. That is why I was so disappointed when they didn't, for the first time ever, this June, but more than that, I wanted to know why. Seriously, why? It's so great to know it'll happen in September, but again, why? Why September and not June? Apple never gave a reason -- none; not so much as a peep by Steve Jobs the convention this June; he talked about the new iPad & a whole lot of time about the iCloud software, but not one word about the iPhone. Seriously, what gives? What was the hold up? I understand their need for tight security (especially after last year's unfortunate early info. leakage of it's then-new iPhone, the iPhone 4) and their M.O. of being so secretive about their new technology until they officially announce/debut it (I think in an effort to generate anticipation & media hype), but why is Apple being so mum about the iPhone postponement? They could've said something -- production delays, last-minute design changes, function fine-tuning, software tweaking, prolonged quality control. They could have said practically anything for the new iPhone delay, but no, nothing. What are they trying to hide?

Components from Korean company, assembly mainly in China. Some say it was to regularize hardware versus software announcements.

                                      Mac OS and iOS in June, hardware (iPhone etc) in September. This way things don't overlap each other too much.

                                      Looking forward to the next iPhone! It's going to be awesome!

Heck, at launch, the original iPhone was a dumbphone with the same resolution as a 2003 Palm T3! The lure of the iPhone isn't technology, it's the neatness of the packaging.
