AnonD-462421, 09 Nov 2017so the answer is a single manufacturer that produces phones... moreNobody said that a single manufacturer is the solution. But the fact is that the current market is not different from a monopoly. All phone manufacturers produce the same phones, just under a different brand name. It's like cartelling. The vast majority of the population is dumb. If people had common sense, they would stop buying phones with non-removable battery and glass body. It would force manufacturers to produce real smartphones. The journalists and reviewers are also faulty, because they lie and mislead people about what are the important factors of a phone. They tell people what they should want.

The problem is that there is no alternative choice of phones.

No wonder, why? I purchased a htc mid ranger back in 2013 at 18k INR. It never received a update. I sold it in early 2016 at 2k. bad experience. battery and calling issues. Never htc again.

There are almost 8 billion people on this planet. Unless they all think the same, you will ALWAYS have diversity » many brands.
People in Asia will still buy a ton of low and midrange phones from no name brands just because it has a big display lol
I would rather use a simple phone than a Huawei. Yukkk!

It's not that I don't miss expandable storage or the 3.5mm jack but I do think that oem's should have the right to try new stuff, and the population will vote with their money. Obviously, htc is bleeding out right now because of that. I'm not going to argue if they're better for whatever reason I just don't understand why people get so excited for blood in the water when historically a monopoly hasn't exactly been beneficial for the market?

Anonymous, 09 Nov 2017That's the problem, there are too many weak manufacturers (... moreI don't disagree with this, (besides the fact that I still love htc lol) but I'm from the U.S and Huawei and Xiaomi may be amazing outside.. and have been working to make a presence within the U.S. but right now, in all practicality, they don't exist. And still, Huawei and Xiaomi won't make up for the loss of HTC, Motorola (lenovo) and LG combined.. I'm not saying we should save these manufacturers for the sake of it but I really don't understand why so many people root for them to fail. It's not like there isn't room for new oems. There are hundreds of completely unheard of Android OEMS... they just never get anywhere. And I highly doubt it's because htc, lg, and moto own the market.

                    Looks pretty bad as usual

Unfortunately the phone manufacturers will never make such a real high-end, high tech smartphone anymore. Just the gimmick and fake "high-end" phones like the current phones.

You should know that using double sim phones raises the risk of getting brain cancer - double the radiation
The FM radio - I've deleted mine on my Sony. Never listen to radio. Except while driving but not using the phone.
Removable battery : you'll have to get used to it. There are 2 main reasons they do them like this: one, the battery dies after 2-3 years, thus forcing you to buy a new phone and second, if you can't take the battery out, that phone is traceable ALL the time.

All OEM's phones have the same design (glass unibody, wrong screen aspect ratio (18:9), curved edges and curved screen corners, no bezels), and all of them lack of the same most important features (removable battery, FM Radio, IR blaster, 3.5mm jack).

Data traffic consumes plenty of battery too) and you'llbe out of luck, especially if it's unplanned usage.

Why do people put up with such compromises and find it completely normal?

What's new? For a few years now HTC can't make a decent phone. The u ultra broke like wet cardboard and now they ditched the 3.5mm jack.
I'm not an audiophile but I use the headphones all the time WHILE charging. Just the fact that I cannot do that anymore makes me stay away from them.
A few years ago I was telling everyone to buy HTC. Now I'd stay as far away as possible.
If a phone lacks the features bellow it is not highend and not worth buying.
                                      - SD card slot
                                      - Waterproofing

I don't care how thick the phone is, it can be 1.5cm thick, just don't take features out and call ur phone a high-end. Its sht!

Do you know what your comment means? If 5-6 hours of SOT is just for a half of a day, it means that youre using your phone for 10 to 12 hours everyday! I know a lot of people (including myself) whom are heavy users and don't spend half of their day using their smartphones.

If you're using your phone this way that's fine, but don't come to me and tell me that most people user their phome for 12 hour everyday. People have lifes you know. 5-6 hours of SOT is plenty enough for at least 75-80% of consumers.
