If they continue this route, by 2020 they'll shut their mobile division. They have the camera sensors in the business and they use the best one for their flagships, yet they have the worst camera among other flagships which are using their sensors. It's been like that for years now. A simple solution like an OIS and a better image processing would solve this issue, yet they insist on not adding it.
They see the whole market going for the bezel-less trend, yet they bring a phone in the second half of 2017 with a 4 years design. You may defend them and say that other phones like the iPhone 8 series have the same design for years, but the truth is that this is Apple we're talking about. They can make a bottle of water for 100$ and people will still buy it. They have millions of loyal fans who'll buy anything they produce. Sony can barely sell 3 million phones for a whole year, not to mention that their loyal fans maybe are 2000 or 3000 people in the world.

They should ... moreThe IMX400 has 1.22um pixels, the difference from 1.4-1.5um pixels is not that significant for low light performance, its all up to the software. If Google got their hands on the IMX400, they would be able to take 2x clearer photos even if the pixels are a bit smaller due to the much higher resolution and 2x more pixels to use for fusion pixel imaging and pure 4:4:4 chroma. Sony needs to improve the image processing software if they want to fight the big guys.
