Samsung working on a WP7 version of the Galaxy S II?

04 July, 2011
After sparking a furor in the Android world with its I9100 Galaxy S II flagship, Samsung is obviously considering lending the form factor to another platform. A particularly juicy rumor has it that...

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2011The snapdragons of today are inferior to Exynos. They still... moreWow, you are SO wrong. Snapdragons do NOT use Cortex-A8. They use Qualcomm's own designed core named "Scorpion", which is generally faster than Cortex-A8.
Also they are NOT made at 55nm, but 45nm.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_%28system_on_chip%29

P.S. I'm not saying they are faster than exynos. Exynos is obviously faster because of its Cortex-A9 cores.

Cortex-A9 > Scorpion > Cortex-A8

As far as I can tell from toiling away as a low level support schlub WP7 sales stalled in anticipation of Mango. One of my current daily phones is a unlocked Samsung Focus. Works great, performs well and upgrades smoothly. Another device currently supported on a daily basis, the Samsung Infuse, is a great piece of hardware but nowhere near as smooth in its stock Android implementation as the Focus. Once tweaked it moves right along with only the inherent Android glitches.
If an additional HDMI port is added to the Infuse hardware running WP7 Mango the end result is going to be a killer user experience for gaming and enterprise productivity.

          why nokia is in trouble?...

like many other Brands out there, Samsung is just making its version of WP7..

NOkia is different, they had signed an agreement with Microsoft, Making the WIndows OS customizable for their own. Adding MORE, Skin-deep functions, breaking some windows OS known limits. its like making the OS their own.. thats it^^..

          other words..
other brands will have their WP7, like the others..just the same,.the only difference would be on the hardware..and for sure samsung will be on top of this department..

But Nokia will make their WP7 phone Distict from the rest.. Not only on the hardware,..but On the Software itself..they will have their own flavours of WP7 phones...

                            1. I for one love the way Windows 7 mobile moves. I am sick of slugish phones.
                            2. The more diversity we have ... the better.
                            3. I would like to have a Playbook :)
                            4. My main language is not english (as you can see clearly)

If this is true then Nokia are in real trouble...
The problem (for Nok) is that the Galaxy brand is now a well-known benchmark within Android (and further afield) and if they duplicate this with Win7.5 - it's a tried/trusted range which people know performs... it'll no longer be about form factor (which Nok wins everytime) but about specs (Nok not renowned for best specs)

Also, I don't know if any of you have tried Launcher 7 on Android (pretty much copies Win7 on Android) - it's a great system, but, once you start adding shortcuts and more apps, etc. (I assume the real Win 7 doesn't have widgets such as tweetdeck, poweramp, etc.) what you get is a really unwieldy list of panes that you have to scroll down for AGES... it's a bit worrying, unless they decide on being able to scroll all directions... (which would take some doing)
I dunno, I'm not sure Win7 is as user-friendly as the other major players...

simple user, 04 Jul 2011wp7 supports BT? well that's interesting... :-)Both WP7 and iOS support BT, but not for file transfers as they both don't have the concept of file management.

Nokia is in trouble. They said they are moving to WP because they wanted to differentiate themselves. This information prooves that there is no differentiation even with WP7 or 8. Nokia should quicly change strategy and adopt all OSes, just like Samsung, but let Nokia differentiate itself through MeeGo and a new or heavily revamped Symbian. I can predict a day in the future when Nokia will confess they took the wrong turn as adviced by navigator Elop

I'm planning on buying a Nokia device, whether it is 1ghz, 1.5ghz or dual core. Nokia has got my vote, sorry Samsung!

Also, i dont believe Microsoft will kick these new Mango devices running only 1ghz, i think Microsoft and a few phone manufactures are going to surprise us :-)

Cannot wait to see WP/Nokia handsets!
