the A75 core that the Kryo 385 is based upon, is topped out at 2.8 GHz... and since the Snapdragon 835 peaks out at 2.45 GHz. adding 20% of it (or 490 MHz) will breach the roof. and that'll cause throttling and such. as if my memory is not mistaken. 2.94 GHz > 2.8 GHz
so something is probably exaggarated. or I misunderstood completely.

What happened to Solid Energy Battery? The battery tech that promised same amount of energy at half the size of existing batteries. Battery tech needs to evolve. Whoever gets it right, $$$$$$ is waiting for you.

I'm using Sony Xperia Z5 Premium as one of my phone and could last 2 days if moderately using it for gaming and watching YouTube videos.
Even with this power hungry SoC of infamous Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, Sony Xperia quite able to tame the big beast.
Planning to get another Sony Xperia by next year if Sony able to make a better 2018 Sony Xperia XZ Premium.

I hope Lenovo and ASUS will release Lenovo P3 and Zenfone 4 Zoom. :)

You can achieve this already. Just need bigger battery into thicker phones. The problem now is, whenever a new SOC comes out with better power efficiency, companies make phones thinner & lower battery capacity.
I can certainly live with a SD835 in a 5.2" 1080p with capacity of 5500mAH with the phone at 10mm thickness.

There're ALOT of research and end-product for these 2 that are still NOT yet released due to either bureaucracies or politics.

Because people are into numbers too much too. People phones with insane high resolution. FullHD is already overkill for 6' phone. Now lets count. 720x1280=777600=0.78MPix, 1080x1920=2073600=2.07MPix already more than two times of power required, 2160x3840=8294400=8.29MPix, almost 12 times the power required to render an image compared to 720P... My gf has old Sony with 720P and I hardly see any difference compared to my 6' fullHD, unless I take a magnifiyng glass. Another thing...how slim phones are I'm sure they can be a little thicker....They could put more juice into battery. Numbers...marketing will always abuse 'em. And people jump into the trap.

Mi Max 2 can last 3 days with normal browsing and messaging. No gaming and videos.

Unfortunately, the 845 will not be more efficient. Qualcomm and ARM both clearly said "more performance at the same efficiency". That means it can perform better, but the extra edge will use more power to be reached. Additionally, the chip is clocked 20% higher than the 835, while the improved 10nm process only affords a 10% efficiency increase. It will be a hotter chip that uses more power to perform better.
We've been getting that for years, because that's what people want. Clock your chip 10% lower to get 20% more battery life out of it and people will hate you for lagging behind the "best performer" in the benchmarks, treating mobile device benchmarks like it's a desktop PC, even though the performance is not even sustainable due to heat.
We do the same in our chips, as otherwise we would fail to be competitive, as what the market wants and what is the sweet spot for performance/power in mobile are two completely different things. I wish a big manufacturer with a large marketing budget used it to spread education and stop the cycle, but nobody does in fear it could backfire as excuse for having a slower chip. It's unfortunate, as chipsets are usually the close second largest battery drain after displays, and smartphones could easily last 30+% longer if allowed to perform 20% slower, while also having higher sustained performance while playing games, for instance, due to less heat.

Battery life is an always moving goal-post.
If you compare the efficiency of a 2017 current-gen phone like an iPhone X, S8+ or 1+5t... to devices from 2011 such as the iPhone 4S, S2, or Gnex... we definitely see a clear progress.
What used to be almost 1 day of battery life is now slightly over 2 days.
However, the efficiency has gone up a lot lot higher than that.
So what gives?
It's people.
We can't compare battery life apples to apples because we don't use mobiles in 2017 like we did in 2011. The Operating System is a lot more bloated now (yes, even iOS) so it sucks more juice when idle and in-use. Radios like Wifi and LTE work much much faster, and run during idle more often to update information throughout the day. This obviously uses more power. Then there's the larger storage and memory units. While its small, these faster and more capacious units have an effect. And let's not forget GPU's, which have a lot more 3D portions and graphics to render than before, and drive a lot more pixels. This means more units, or higher frequency, or both. And not to forget, the GPU shares the memory on the SoC so this also takes its toll, as well as on the CPU, which works to clear some of it up for the GPU to use when instructed. There's the displays, which are now more responsive, brighter, more colourful, and have a lot more pixels to push. Definitely the biggest setback here. And the CPU which works harder to run the bloated OS, manage the memory, send instructions to the GPU, and works more frequently and harder in the background. So while these are some factors the biggest factor of battery life inequality seems to be: Apps.
Apps used to be "Mobile Apps" where they're small size to download, installed in small sizes, didn't wake the SoC in idle to update as frequently, had lower graphical standards to work on most devices, and was built with efficiency and light-work in mind.
Now what they call Apps are mostly Desktop Apps made to be more touch-friendly. Or are really mobile apps which are very poorly designed, so they should be removed from the Play Store. It's the main reason why iPhone works a lot better than Android lately, because they have this iron-fist governing their hardware and software, they're able to maintain that efficiency a lot better. I could potentially have a more efficient mobile, but this would require a phone with a 1080p (or lower) OLED screen, one that is efficient. Has a large 3,500mAh (or larger) battery. An efficient SoC like QSD 660, instead of QSD 652. And allows me to modify the software (r00t, bootloader, drivers, kernel, governor etc etc), that way the OS can be made that best molds to the hardware and isn't wasteful or a feature-whoore. Then we can look to modifying some Apps to revoke access to certain hardware, and make them less-heavy. Now, you can observe 4 day battery life.
TL;DR It's not the size, but how you use it.

We'd like to end with a plea to manufacturers. Please don't use all these battery efficiencies to reduce the size of the battery in our phones even further so you can give us a 3mm thick smart phones!
