They know the better solution is to prolong the battery lifespan for the sealed battery.

Show this article to every single phone company out there. With 3.5mm jack sells more than the ones without. This should be a fact, business and commercial wise.

If you are audiophile I think you probably have more than 1 headphone for sure.

As a Pixel 2 owner, I'm extremely disappointed by the absence of a headphone in the box. Apple on the other hand at least gives you a pair of lightning headphones in the box. I don't know what Google is thinking, may be they are thinking, if you just charge more for a product, it becomes premium! BS. Pixel phones are the most overpriced pieces of hardware in 2017. They need to learn a looot from Apple or Samsung before charging lot of money to Android lovers. They are becoming greedy... And thats very disappointing.

303tk4, 17 Dec 2017Chill dude I don't like cloud-only idea either. And of cou... moreYep if all phones had at least 128GB i wouldn't think of an SD slot. Just like i wouldn't think of a 3.5mm jack if:
-everything had bluetooth connection (Car audio included)
-Bluetooth sound quality was 1:1 with the wired audio quality.
-Headphones don't need batteries and just "magically" use electricity from thin air.
Well then there really wouldn't be any reason to use a wired connection. But that's not gonna happen for at least 10 more years, if ever (Oh i'm sure they do have the technology, they just won't release it).

And of course, expandable storage is must-have on the phone with less than 32GB storage, and it is nice-to-have even on the phone with 1TB internal storage.
Also I DO use expandable storage to store audio and videos for learning foreign language.

But imagine 256GB internal storage (because it seems 128GB isn't suffice for you) come cheap, lack of expandable storage doesn't suck as much as lack of headphone jack, does it? *Just if story, I know it doesn't come cheap

I just don't like the tone this writer is saying, as if "some people stick to old paradigm obstinately and cannot adopt changes".
I'd argue, we aren't myopic enough to stick to card slot itself, what we need is storage and have a legit reason.

The problem with this is that we are not at a point where all USB-C accessories work with every phone. I remember when smartphones had one micro-USB port. Life wasn't bad because I could put any headphone in that port and be fine. There were also removable batteries to solve the battery life problem. It was a dream. However, since all USB-C headphones don't work for every USB-C device, you need to keep the headphone jack there.

The S9 renders show a 3.5 mm jack. Sony and LG seem to want to keep the feature alive too. Why manufacturers want to delete them is beyond me.

Anonymous, 17 Dec 2017Besides, this doesn't solve the problem of most headphones ... moreWell at the very least it IS possible to get a (cheap) combined splitter and converter, so there are no need to to carry TWO extra things around.
                              Here is a £1 example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332284571767

But would still MUCH prefer the jack included!

As a SD/ removeable storage user and i believe im one of millions/trillions. The reason for this is why would you want a restrictive/ fixed storage option ? Even if they expand the storage to 1Tb could you ever with future technology that, That would be adequate ?

Im guessing your next reply would be online storage? I ask you who would you trust with all your personal photos, memories and details etc, What about if you had been working on an invention etc? Playstation,Windows,Banks,Uber and Government Institutions have all had there online storage hacked.

So when you dismiss SD cards be very careful as i will always use them as thats the most secure way of storing information for me !

I don't play games and i don't care about the camera, so i don't need a flagship. Yet i need either 128GB internal (dual sim) or dual sim + dedicated slot and then i can even live with 16GB internal.
