That feature won't bring us down.

Then again, I'm an introverted Microsoft PC Master Race who rarely used an iDevice (like 30 mins - 2 hours of use) anyway. What's your mileage?

Do we care? We buy Apple for the name, the iconic design, the logo, the simple iOS and of course, a phone that works like any other phone, even Android. We text, use FB Messenger, Instagram and all the basics. We don't expect too much. Even if we are at awe with those 10 to 30 hidden features and apps, we forget about them and move on.

If this battery issue thing ruins our performance, I cared less. As long as it still works, we're gucci. But use this mentality, WE WON'T LET AN INTENTIONAL UNDERCLOCK GET IN OUR WAY!

Well sheep's, you been treated for granted again! Omg, horrible decision in my opinion. Instead of telling you what your battery sucks, it just interlocks your system and makes it completely useless so you buy more of their shitty products, how can you still look yourself at the mirror and be apple customer? :)

Android phones also have this feature, but it's an actual feature and it's optional. It is called power saving mode.

I've purchased my iPhone 7 in April the battery condition is still 100%. After updating to IOS 11.2.1 I did notice that the Geekbench multicore reading has dropped by approx. 10% (from about 6000 to 5400 now) I haven't noticed any showdown or lagging.
But I do agree that users should have been given the option to update before Apple did it themselves.

Apple are the cancer of the mobile industry.

What? How do the phone's firmware knows if the battery is new or old? This is an excuse for the problem. Battery monitoring in phones is one of the hardest things, and it is very rudimentary. So... I simply do not believe in this. I only believe that Apple decreases the clock speed, in order to increase the user desire to buy the brand new iPhone. The brand new iPhone is 20% faster (example), but you will feel 45% faster. Benchmarks application can help monitoring this.

Planned obsolescence! You who buy phones with non-removable battery, you deserve it. You waste your $1000s on throwaway disposable phones. If you weren't buy those phones, it would enforce manufacturers to use removable batteries.

Their executive himself told me that i am not alone with this kind of issue. As far as i think my phone isn't a refurbished as i bought it thru Apple store itself, until unless Apple is selling refurb phones in the guise of new ones in their own stores, who knows, they can do it also, when they can slow down older phones like this. As far as i am concerned, the premium purchase i made from Apple didn't even last 2 years.

Why don't apple create a battery degradation app to warn users of their battery condition. After that it's rest on the users to take the next course of action.

Apple may be sincere, but sincerely wrong.
Now they have presented the facts, then perhaps they can present now an acceptable solution.
I know someone who has an iphone 6s plus and he was dissapointed he updated his iOs version. It lags and hangs pretty bad!
