Weekly poll: What is the best 2017 phablet?

Nothing comes close to the versatility of the Galaxy Note with its S Pen. You can't draw accurately with a finger. Split screen on an 18.5:9 is wonderful. Now
The S Pen has tilt input than just the 4096 pressure-input levels. I can do broader pencil strokes by just tilting the S Pen:

And the recent update of the Autodesk's Sketchbook app lets me now create up to 10,000 by 10,000 pixel resolution creative content. You can only do that with the higher specs like with the 6 GB RAM. That's 100 megapixels. That's professional commissions level. And I can do that on my Note8:

Shadocx, 24 Dec 2017Also, check which country vote the most, all those polls ar... moreExactly, polls here are completely pointless. Either the vast majority of the people visit this site is from India or someone there just messed it up voting a huge amount of times. Same thing with other polls, like the one about the best compact phone. The marketshare in India is quite different from other parts of the world. Apperently someone there really like Samsung :)

Simon, 24 Dec 2017The Note 8 is a lovely phone, the biggest con being that it... moreIt's a self-selecting group here.
The iPhone X (and the 8) and the Pixel 2 are arguably the best of 2017, based on most pro reviews, on camera quality, and on software and support. The Note 8 usually comes a close third.

A phone has to have software updates. IPhone gets 5 years on average. Pixel gets 3 years and is guaranteed to get android 11. Samsung s8 and note 8 might get android 9 months or a year after release. One plus 5 and 5t will get android 9 a few months after release the rest is just luck. THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Not to mention security patches. It can only be iPhone or pixel xl 2 the rest of the phones without security or feature updates are literally useless after the first year or a 2 year contract.

The Note 8 is a lovely phone, the biggest con being that its overpriced.
I see the Pixel 2 XL got just a few votes, but I'm surprised it got any. That has to be the poorest quality, most troubled flagship Android phone ever. Sure, Google had issues before with some Nexus devices, but they were cutting edge phones AND were priced at half of what the Pixel 2 XL costs.

Note 8 all the way, anyday. Nothing matches the versatility of the S-Pen, you simply wouldn't get the precise accuracy it offers with merely your fat fingers in ANY of the following cases (all of which are how I use my Note 8 at work and home):
- Annotating on google maps to identify location and status of assets (via Screen Write)
- Quick-Sketching of worksite and asset locations/status in off screen memos (presuming your device has off screen memos to begin with)
- Free-hand cropping out desired information from apps/webpages/pictures/documents/etc. (via Smart Select) then annotating over it
- Annotating over ordinary images via Live Message and making fun gifs I can share on any messaging app, including WhatsApp
- Annotating over Word/Excel/PowerPoint/PDF documents, webpages (via Screen Write), and shearing them
- Filling-in and signing forms instead of wasting time/ink/paper printing them, filling and signing them, then re-scanning them
In conjunction with the above, the S-Pen packs and integrates other handy functions that would have been separated into multiple apps otherwise. The rest are big merely for the sake of being big.

No best phone.
Display : Note8
Audio : V30
User Experience: V30/Note8
Battery Life/Charging : Mate 10 Pro/Razer
Design : Mate 10 Pro
Camera : Pixel 2
Performance : 5T
Value : 5T
For me personally, the V30 and Note 8 are the best phones I've used since the Note 7. Design wise, the Note 8 is an elongated mess. Way too many people I know have cracked screens and it's annoying to put in my pocket/take out. The V30 just feels better in my hand, more solid, more natural and not like it will easily drop onto the floor.
The V30 has superior audio (Quad DAC), I mean it really sounds amazing but it also has a military grade build and a better rear camera. I took a blind test (linked below), the Note 8 didn't win a single test for me. The Note 8 camera is just bland with oversaturation.
The Note 8 does have the better screen although not vastly superior and my V30+ doesn't have the blue tint or colour uniformity issues at an angle. The pen is the Note 8's saving grace but then I never even used it with my Note 7. Note 8 has a better front camera but I never use it either and the Note 8 has a crappy fingerprint position. The extra RAM of the Note 8 shows no significant real world advantage in side by side tests unless you use a huge amount of apps.
To conclude:
A) If you want a better screen, more RAM, better front camera and pen, GET THE NOTE 8.
B) If you want better audio, better rear camera, better battery life, military grade build, better fingerprint position, GET THE V30.
The design and UI is all preferential while the CPU and GPU are identical. Price could also be a factor where you live.
So all in all, I'd have to say the V30 is the king of 2017 for me and if it had the same marketing prowess as Samsung, I'd wager it would be considered the best phone of the year by a hell of a lot more people. I read Samsung spend up to 10x more on advertising their smartphones than LG. Also, this poll was heavily skewed as the most people polled come from India and the V30 was only just released there.

Didosa, 24 Dec 2017From all phones here only Note 8 is phablet. The others are... moreBest comment here .
What makes a phablet is not just a big display .
Absolutely nothing on the market can compete with Note lineup in terms of functionality, especially due to the exclusive S pen feature .

So...Galaxy S8 or the LG G6 are compact phones, and the IPhone X is a phablet. Fair enough.
