Drop in the iPhoneX sales; and now this battery mess; with pretty clumsy reaction and explanation that doesn't really make it clear for the folks; and Galaxy S9 on the way at the same time. Apple should worry!

my iPad mini 2 died and never came back on never done anything to it other than watching videos and browse the web now it won't charge maybe they have something to do with it

Even longer... moreWhile it's true for some phones, it could also slow down due to garbage files from installed but unused apps and uninstalled apps. I keep digging up files from apps I uninstalled months ago so hard reset every certain number of months is needed.
Apps should be able to clean up after themselves when being uninstalled.
That said, why would old school android phones keep running at 1% battery while these flashy new iphones die at more than 10-20% battery and needed to have their cpu slowed down to keep them from dying?

Everyone in my family has an iPhone, except me. It is about the ecosystem. If the phone slows down, I just decide to upgrade to a new one and budget it. This is pure cheating. Never have I seen anything saying "slowing down iPhone to fix battery performance issues". This is cheating in the name of Monopoly to make sure people buy the new model after 2 years. Considering that I have bought over 5000$ of iPhones between iPhone 6 and iPhone 7, I am very disappointed. Really need to think about switching to $400 Android phones rather than a $1000 iPhone which will be junked after a year

Its true that Apple devices lasts the longest.. Even longer than past Nokia smartphones ... No android device has more life than 2 years.. first they don't receive software updates,, then they run slower than any entry level smartphone of current time.. My s5 is basically crap now.. last major update was ages ago.. and most whereas iphone 6 continues to receive updates and get support..

I own the iPhone SE , and its faster with the latest iOS (11.2.1) than the past iOS . But there is true About , that older iphones are nonusable, for exampleI had iPhone 4s with 9.3.5, and it was impossible for using (yes I had new battery).
Also iPhone 5s with 11.2.1 is so slow.
Android in this situation Is so much better... I am waiting for s9+ ...

Ok Apple . I do like some of your products such iPad and iPod , but after that controversy-debacle on throttling CPU on old batteries that you've not been transparent since the start and admitting last-minute, your name and reputation couldn't been fixed in near time as it was your fault . You've could done better .........

"Your battery is warn, we recommend to replace it or to throttle down the clock speed to extend the overall battery life somewhat. You can always turn the down-throttling on/off in Settings. Do you want this activated now? YES/NO "
THEN there would have been absolutely no issue, and it would have been user-friendly, but just slowing down the users device without warning is nothing but planned obsolescence no matter how the avid (or hired) fans tries to defend it...
...And the price reduction for the replacement is a clear sign they know they have been caught with their pants down...

The only positive thing about this is the reduce of the replacement to a more reasonable price. Which means that Apple was overpricing the change too as they do with all their products, lol.
But there isn't any change in their attitude. WHERE is the option to choose between a slower mode and full power even if the battery last less time? They still force the iPhone to be a lot slower if the software consider it old and we still don't know if the full power is only restored with original batteries. IS like pay a fee each time that the software decide that is time to slow your iPhone again! But soon they'll tell you through software that is time to pay them the fee or have a slower phone...
How long will it be? Less than two years? We'll see.
