The fact that if your not annoyed if you are an apple fan, you are just letting them walk all over you but that is probably what your life is like. No matter what they do or what they say you are convinced that your GOD from above Apple, can't be wrong. This just shows them that there consumer doesn't care about the product as long as it has a Apple logo on the back.

And before you go O Samsung and LG are just lying. Firstly I'm not saying that they are not lying. But would be the point of them slowing there phones down when you have so many competitors out there. As if you have a bad experience with one brand of phone your most likely going to go to another brand. What if your any android user it is possible as every year you have a wide variety of phones to fit your profile and what you like. But if you are an iPhone fan you have to deal with whatever S*** they deal you with every year.

Well Samsung phones will naturally start slowing down after a few months anyway and LG phones will start boot-looping after a year.

Apple hopes by slowing down the older phone it would create enough annoyance that the majority of the user will eventually consider to buy a newer model Iphone. Apple excuse for the sneaky maneuver was done in good faith is a lie. Apple could have mentioned about the contents of the update to the masses but... they didn't. They (Apple) only come clean after they have been exposed.

People should stop defending such shady practice just because they love Apple. Any Brands that resort to such practice should be condemned.

                      Can confirm that about Samsung.
I'm still using my 5 yo Note II (as second/work phone) and it still keeps up the good work. I use it mainly for telephony, navigation (waze), little bit of messaging. Usually 2 days on a charge, sometimes less.
                      Cheers!

Jimbob, 29 Dec 2017That galaxy S6 battery should be dying nicely right about n... moreWhy not to replace battery in Samsung service center? Much cheaper and your phone will be good for another couple of years.

low and mid-range phones from samsung becomes slow with time and everybody know that.

They add to the injury, they should do a scientific test of old phones with old batteries and point out that it is not necessary to throttle an old phone.

I hope these OEMs keep their words.
I wish they won't be a traitor, saying they won't slow their phones down but later on, will eventually do it.

Remember Google? They made fun of Apple for removing the headphone jack on the iPhone 7/7+ with their Pixel/Pixel XL advertisement, look what they did now with the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL.

Of course they don't. Because if you want to prolong battery life, you can MANUALLY reduce performance just by tapping "Power Saving Mode". This is what we want: the choice, Apple, the choice!

LG - possible. Samsung - Never. Don't forget about Samsung's heavy laggy ui.
