examples:
Google Pixel 2 XL
LG V30
Oppo F5
OnePlus 5T (also poor decision with the normal 5, which came out just 2-3 months before)
iPhone X
LG Q6
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2
Samsung Note 8

so they were late to the market from 2-8 months.

But when it's too tall it's impossible to reach the top end with your thumb. Or at least it's much harder).

AnonD-203829, 08 Jan 2018LG had a bit better STB in that year with the G2Still, Sharp still looked at Sony as their based inspiration for their bezelless phone in 2013 than LG as Sharp and Sony is one homeland and decided to work based on their partner in the same homeland (can't say it copied as Sharp approachment is different overall at the end than Xperia ZL). Besides if you see at LG G6, the nearest design that implied to G6 was Xperia ZL itself as keeping bezel near thin than 3-sides bezelless on Sharp approach or LG G2 one.

ddd, 08 Jan 2018just like Sony Xperia. I like their hardware but come on it... moreThey already bezelless phone before that inspired Sharp to do the same or at least they did it the same time. The 2013 Xperia ZL (75,6% STB at that time was a incredible amount of STB). But i think it was abandoned due bezelless after ZL was immature tech at 2013, although it was returned with Xperia C5 Ultra in 2015 . Then after 3 years when Mi Mix perfected the bezelless and was boomed the popularity , they already preparing proposed of their perfected bezelless phone since early 2017 when XZP was starting to leaked. I think they need a year to make it perfect to do both form and function simultaneously as bezelless at 2017 still doesn't carry both terms. And this year they already ready to release it. But as always, they always keep it as a secret or surprise until MWC 2018.

and fact is, the whole market thinks this way. even HTC itself with U11+ (of course, being very late as always)

of course it has nothing to do with bezels-less. it just one more point, like your point about audio jack

I own the original HTC Touch HD phone. Back then it was evolutionary with its sense UI.BUt now their design is shit and not even a hinge of innovation.Design wise also ugly.Just like Sony xperia, still living in their past glories and busy churning products after products of ugly design.

Was a little surprised to hear this as HTC devices have been outstanding. The 11 for example. Some of it probably comes down to marketing and stockists. So hope that changes. Meantime my HTC One A9, powers on everyday like it was new. Zippy thing it is. Handset feels so I not been tempted to change till another mental back one comes, no glass. Pixel yes, but spoiled by glass to frame sharpness. Power on HTC. Marketing...

for example from the last year: minimum bezels and 18:9 ratio. - only respond to this demand came late in november, and still not so good bezel-less... (although much better from the U11, which was a disgrace for 2017 smartphone, bezels wise)

HTC is great but only in flagship phones.
They don’t take risk to advertise their product just like Sony.
Average people here in our country thinks that HTC was gone a years ago.
