More like *NEED it now. I'm in Canada and the N8s here are still using PR1.1.

A tragedy.

still lag and sometimes not responsive hu?
how many upgrade till now? 2? there is no way to solve symbian problem, you need to build new OS and name it another symbian than it will cure.
today symbian is rotten to the core.

The popular term "smartphone" that is used today came with the 7650. The first Symbian "smartphone." First phone capable of installing apps in native os code. In 1996 communicator use, Symbian as a name didn't exist, it was EPOC.

How long did it need to get copy paste, multitasking, etc. New notification bar is stolen from a developer on Cydia. How many Nokia patents infringed by apple? They can't develop a phone without infringing stuff. Nokia did those things half a decade before apple.

Anonymous, 02 Aug 2011Nokia invented the smartphone, Nokia 7650.Sorry but that's not the truth. The truth is, the first smartphone was made by IBM in 1992. It's called the IBM Simon.

The first Nokia smartphone, the Nokia 9000 was released in 1996. That's 4 years after Simon so NO, the smartphone was not invented by Nokia.

not bad.. but not gr8 either..symbian is ok for people who donot want an out of their minds kinda a performance but an everyday phone to cope with their daily needs.. if you are a performance enthusiast keep yourself away from here.... i have used an n8 and c6-01.. both are brilliant phones no doubt.. but its not a phone where you can explore stuff.. like android has millions of apps and everyday i discover something new.. and android phones are monsters when it comes in performance... which symbain cant match up... hopefully... it improves much better than how it is now

come on man, why does it take too long for you guys to develop an OS that is very basic... you make homescreens and widgets to support it but what is the point if you cannot add shortcuts of icons on home screen.... and why arent there resizable widgets???????
