I think people overestimate these updates. These updates are not even that big of a deal. Security updates on the other hand are useful. Last "real" update that we had was Marshmallow. After that we got minimal efficiency improvements along with some delicious "bugs". Personally i like to have devices on stock when they are the most optimized.

So the S8 gets the update before the 1k$ Note....Nice to see where Sammy priorities lie. Also for the Winter games that they sponsor they will give athletes their latest flagship with their not latest OS...again Nice Job

It will take 5 years for stock Android to catch up to Samsung Oreo in functionality. Even iOS 11 already has more features than stock Android.
