This reminds me of a culture when the most influential person (king, chief, etc) in the society decides on something, the society will follow him regardless whether they actually know what the king is doing.
So, in this case Apple is His Majesty. He does something, society will follow it regardless whether they actually know what the king is doing.

All I care is that Android >P< is coming out in a few months and manufacturers keep releasing phones with Android >N< ...I want to say what I think about that but would have to wait for mod approval that I will never get.

NOOOOOO!
The notch is a failure to innovate or precision engineer the electronics, a sign of giving up to get to market.
I will never buy a phone with a notch, ever. Unless it's a backup model.

Google NO! We are trying to go bezel-less right now and we'd hate to go back to bezels in the form of notches, what will be next notches on the sides?

What I'm afraid is when this thing become a standard requirement for every single devices in the world in the near future.
Your phone would be considered "outdated and garbage" in the future if it doesn't have a notch, the same way your phone is irrelevant today if it has large bezels.

Why cant they make a android OS that is like 8.0 and goes 8.1 and then 8.2 to 8.9 and then come out with 9.0 with new name. You buy a phone with droid 8 on it and one year later there is already 9 or 10 out and you dont get to even 9 before there is already 11 out.
So basically if you want update you need to buy new phone with the latest droid on it. I actually dont care much as i have droid 7.0 and well for the price with what i got my phone i dont expect to get 7.1.2 on it or even 8.0 to it.

well, as it goes, I think it can persuade some android users to switch boat to ios, not vice-versa. Frankly the notch is an eye-sore.

All thanks to them cheap chinese knockoffs that can't help but blatantly imitate the iPhone, no matter how stupid it looks. Oh well, if people are buying such fugly devices, Android becoming more compatible with them is welcome so long as it doesn't compromise the experience for notch-less users...

A notch... A notch on top of the display, is now a feature...
Yes, they're "smart"phones, sure.
What can we say about the buyers then?
