Sad, my first smartphone was the LG G1 Pro (LG Optimus G Pro) that I got back in 2013. It had a lot of unique features that other manufacturers weren't putting on their device, they were also on par with Samsung in terms of release for improved screen and camera tech in their phones. As time went on Samsung got better, and LG started to fall behind, as did HTC, Sony, and a lot of other manufacturers. I really wish companies like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile offered a wide range of flagship devices instead of just Samsung or Apple.

LG makes some very fine LCD displays. The panel in my LG Power is just too good. Just the right amount of yellowy crispiness at 100%. The color has saturation that can compete with the HTC Desire 510. I think LG making quality panels of any kind are an excellent business move. Their OLEDs are getting better, but in my opinion they need to have infinite or 0 contrast ratio to be good as Samsung. I'd want both LCD and OLED to advance in technologies. I have one question about OLED displays: do they have the wavy phosphate feeling when looking at them? Are they dangerous to use regularly?

Obligatory reminder: EVERY LG flagship with LCD has suffered from IMAGE RETENTION. You can check this by googling "LG G4 image retention" and substitute G4 for any of the models, G3, G4, V10, V20, etc
Source: Have a G4 & wanted to buy other LG phone, but they all are equally shitty with this problem.

One advantage of OLED still not fully exploited is their flexibility, if bendable (or extensible) phones are finally a reality and takes off in sales, you will not want the cheap IPS LED equivalent unless you want a thick line (black or mirroring) in the middle of the screen

It's just that to attract you, they are using poping, bright colors by default. Just set your device to Basic mode snd enjoy.
LG's P-OLED batch last year was crappy, yes, but most OLEDs last more than 3 years without degradation, granted you do not let a still image for too long. Any device can have burn-ins if that condition is not met.
PenTile was an issue with low-res screens, but today, unless your thing is to stick your face to the screen, you'll believe you are looking at a bright sheet of paper

Get any new OLED screen, especially from Samsung, just make sure that it dont have "vivid" screen setting and get back with your comment again.

Give me real proof of that(that they loose significant quality over that period of time on device, not lab test). I have S3 that still beat the crap out of my current phone.
Typical burn-out of OLED screen is more than 5 years if its in constant usage.
Most important is to not show still image for long time period, as far as image on screen is dynamic you dont need to worry about it because before you notice that you will change devices at least once.

One person like colorful image, other like realistic.
As far as best balance, just check Galaxy s7 or s8, set colors as you with and I can bet my dog that you will get amazing screen quality.

In with way? Im using a lot VR and even here that diamond arrangement is not an issue.
Typical usage when you look at phone from 30-40cm distance you not notice even single pixel.
You stick your face 1cm from screen and complain about that?

I seriously don't understand why people are becoming so obsessed with OLED screens. Their only true advantage is less power consumption.
Yes you get true blacks which is in deed a great thing, but you also get unrealistic color reproduction, specially with whites. They also burn and linearly loose quality with time, that being noticeable within 2 years of daily usage. In addition, we haven't seen any real perfect OLED screen on a phone yet. Samsung screens are great, but the diamond pixel arrangement they use is a major flaw. LG oled screen is also not very good, not to mention the terrible screen on the pixel 2xl...
I don't know guys, maybe OLED is no the way to go yet.
