LG's non-G7 to come with an LCD instead of an OLED display as a cost-cutting measure

17 March 2018

I don't really care, if it has great battery life and always on display, it's good enough for me.

I was wondering that no more companies in India are interested to grab mobile market with low budget segment except Redmi.

I am really feeling fed up with redmi. That they are only who want to make evolution in Indian technology

Sathish, 17 Mar 2018You were so wrong on display prices of a smartphone. Usuall... morethat's the replacement screen cost, for them the cost is much much less (low-midrange J series from samsung,a oled maker, has OLED, for example), but it's not 2 dollars either, maybe 20-40 depending on size and quality? (HDR+/4k excluded)

Coupled with a small battery, this device is surely DOA. LG, ring HTC, collaborate on some devices.

LG's cost cutting is what loses them sales.

Just quit the phone market KG, you are hopeless.

Still rocking my LG G5 since 2016. It's LCD screen are the best among the isheep retina displays and Scamsung OLED displays( WHICH MADE MY EYES GONE SHORT SIGHTED). And u know why I love LCD display, it's because they don't have burn-in display issue, not what u see on the other OLED screen right???

Usually display is the most costliest component of a smartphone. It is neither SOC nor camera modules or anything else costs more than display. So the difference between LED and OLED is high, it can't be 2-4$ difference.. It is 80-120$ for OLED display unit alone, then let LEDs can be between half of them.
