Too bad that the design will be again copied from Apple, they did the p9 so unique and beautiful and the destroyed it with the p10 an now completely covering the tracks of its murder with this iPhone x wanna look alike... And even if the camera will be best ever, some companies pay well for marketing, like to get recognition for borrowed tech - 960fps, or for aditional lights in camera compare tool, like the s9 In good light condition, many shadows are visible while Sony and others have just one. It's all manipulation, bad guys are winning, allways.

The more I read about this, the more curious I am.
Nokia Lumia 1020 had a 41.3-megapixel BSI CMOS image sensor, 1/1.5-inch or 2/3-inch in size with a pixel size is 1.12 µm/microns.
The Nokia 808 had a 41.5-megapixel FSI CMOS image sensor, 1/1.2-inch image in size and with a Pixel size of 1.4 µm/microns.
Samsung has shown that it is possible to have even smaller pixels of a size of upto .9µm. That should effectively shave off another substantial size of a 40MP sensor, more in terms of sensor thickness, making it easy to fit into much slimmer phones.
If it does 30fps at Full Res (40MP), it should produce some impressive photos.

Well Nokia 9 will have 5 cameras.
Nokia was a first phone with 40 MPix camera in phone by Carl Zeiss.
Nokia was and will be always before of this so called competition.
This is just expensive piece of chinese crap.
But if it offers much better specs than S9+ it should be valuable phone.
900 eur price is high but Huawei is a company who can easily surprise others.

With presumably 0.9 micrometer pixel pitch it would need an area that is equivalent to the area of a 1/2" sensor, but the sensor's diagonal could be still about the same as of a 1/2.3" sensor if it's a multi aspect ratio sensor. This seems to be the case with the Xperia XZ2.
2. The Xperia XZ2 has an f/2 lens and according to the leak the P20 Pro has an f/1.6 lens. f/1.6 seems extreme for a 1/2.3" or 1/2" sensor, but it would be equivalent to an f/1.4 lens with a 1/2.55" sensor. And the Galaxy S9 already has an f/1.5 lens + 1/2.55" sensor. So it's not completely unrealistic.

No camera will save Huawei from failing.
The company got to much cocky after the great sucess od P9 and Mate 10. Notch plus the extremely high price for a "chinese" phone will not be well received.
In the price rage of 900 euro Plus, anyone with a bit of sense and taste will go for the S9+

xXENDER FREAKXx, 20 Mar 2018One thing for sure is that Sony don't give their custom sen... moreNot really. The Sony Sensor and Smartphone division are 2 completely different companies. And while the Sensor division is the No.1 in the world, the smartphone division is a huge loss making dud, much on the lines of LG, HTC etc etc.
The Samsung S9 and S9+ have the Sony IMX345 sensor, which basically is the same tech as in the Sony XZ Premium phone, but with larger pixels and Double the DRAM. I am also guessing, therefore, that it can do 960fps @ 1080p, but Samsung is under an agreement not to let that happen.
It is very likely that both the 40MP and the 20MP (effective 19MP) Sensor are retouched up Toshiba and Sony Sensors with some improvements (HDR stacking and PDAF for the Toshiba and better lowlight for the Sony) that will find themselves in the Huawei P20.

I really hope the standard P20 will be only 5.85" like the lite.
I haven't bought the Mate 10 only because of its size.
Phones just keep growing. This is crazy...

Sony is in the forefront of developing and manufacturing of digital sensors with fast readouts (more frames per second = slow motion) for smartphones and other applications.

1. you can take noiseless pics by stacking more shots, 2. you can make 8K timelapses. Well with samsungs chip you could take 8k video even.
not to forget 12mp made by 40mp camera will we awesome also. People holding 1020 and 808 can finally move on. You got no idea how they hold onto their phones saying: but it takes great shots. Huawei as camera centric brand is alredy well know now, they push in hw and support. cannot wait.
