HTC had a bad Q4, but is looking forward to a better Q1 this year

26 March 2018
In the October-December quarter, revenue was flat and losses increased. HTC did set the stage for a better Q1, partially through a sale to Google.

Release a flagship that isn't 6 inches and I will be all over it. Too many huge phones. I don't need a compact one

Read quite a few reports of it being industry leaders daily driver. It certainly gets looks. HTC need advertising for these models and upcoming 12. Personally, I'd like to see a non glass back or partial one. Their is a market of people who don't want greasy backs.

HTC has become too niche. Releasing products with features no one wants and removing things which are useful. Gone are the glory days of the M7.

The whole industry could be doing well and HTC will be the only one not doing well. HTC hasn’t done anything compelling after it’s early success with it’s early 4G LTE phones.

Some tech sites ( gsmarena is not one of them) contribute to their decline. Bias reviews that make geeks believe phones like G6, Pixel 2 XL and OP5t are better than u11 when they are not.

Then geeks give to friends and family suggestions about phones they should buy if they want something great.

I cant understand how OP5 can earn higher score after the review compared to u11 when the taiwanese phone is better at 90% of the things.

OP5/5T dont bring a lot like IP68, stereo hi res audio, HDR screen, good cameras, 1 gigabit LTE.

l bought a faulty U11 that refuses to install PROMPTED firmware updates (bricks at the 24% mark every time).
Why should this company continue doing lousy business at our expense ?!

Like in past Sony Ericsson. Soon nobody will donate to that half sunken ship called HTC.

                          Was Expected.
Losses will last longer, as long as HTC is still doing the same thing, confusing people with too many of the disappointing smartphones.
I suggest HTC makes only 4 models a year. 2 mid-ranges (5.3 and 5.7 inches), one flagship 5.2-5.5 inches and the other is around 6 inches (with minimal bezels in all). With:
                          - top processor in each segment, preferable SD.
                          -enough RAM (3 GB >>>> 6 GBs)
                          - FHD >>>> 4K
-3500 to 4000 mAm battery (HTC is infamous for battery life)
                          - NFC and full sensors in all models
                          - Good speakers, not necessarily boom speakers (if boom would be fantastic)
                          - A truly good camera, numbers of pixels does not matter, the quality should be LG or Samsung class.
                          - different pricing policy (currently HTC phones are overpriced at the time of release and too much underpriced if bought after 1-2 years of release, >>> company loses in either cases)

I agree, I was going to get the U11plus, until it didn't have wireless charging, yep, it really is a deal breaker for me. Their cameras and audio were amazing last year, as were the Pixels'. I loved their designs too. But, with a mediocre screen, only average battery life, no wireless charging, no headphone jack, minimal availability, they failed. Same as the Pixels (aside from battery life). I have a lot of love for HTC, we have 4 in my house, from the years of devices. I use one as my work phone, but they simply are not doing enough. Huawei are in the fight now too, and they have some ex Nokia people working on their imaging. Google now has many of HTC now working for them too, can you imagine what is left? HTC will continue to be in trouble, until they start making devices that tick more of the relevant boxes.

The only thing HTC was recognized for was audio quality.

Have you even used a HTC phone for the last 4 years? Design and performance has been amazing, as well as audio and the camera.

No one can tell me the exynos or SD variant of the S8 or S9 is going to compete with this, it's just not even a competition.

If you know your hardware and software then you should know that HTC at least for the last 4 years have made amazing devices.

Development on XDA is always the best on XDA too.

if they have nice design - able to compete with current design language (18:9 and all), oh but no notches please, cleaner android experience, dual front facing speakers, dual sim card, sd card slot, headphone jack, nice camera, decent IP rating, a bit future proof hardware like maybe 1GB ram extra, competitive pricing and erm..... i think pretty much this and HTC should be back in the game.
