My Galaxy S7 never lagged with Samsung UI over an year and never slowed down. If you are calling useful features bloatwares then you don't know a thing about software.

Sure if you compare SOC's on a strictly annual basis, but Apple and Huawei have to compete with the SOC's of the following year as consumers may as well wait a few months. The 980 has to be able to compete with next year's SOC's, not just best SOC's released over half a year earlier.

Looks like Huawei might replace Samsung in the mobile phone space. May be they lag behind on processor, display and memory. But clever collaboration with Leica seems to be paying off though I am not bothered about their camera

Samsung might have the fastest CPU, but their phone will slow down after a few months of use.

To be honest, a complete package with emphasis on great battery life matters to me a lot more than some benchmark numbers.

I had 3 samsungs and they all aged badly in terms of performance, but not with my huawei. Give it 3 months and 1 update and compare the phones in real word performance!! Benchmarks only count to rank, nothing more, just as manufacturer fuel consumption in cars.

The 845s competition has not been released yet (Apple A 12 and Kirin 980)

AnonD-510098, 28 Mar 2018The Kirin 970 is last years chipset and is still up there w... moreWell Huawei release their SOC's at the end of the year, rather than the start, like Samsung and Qualcomm. The 970 was a little disappointing because it wasn't as impressive a step as the 960 (which wasn't far off the SD 835). The 970 is about as powerful as the SD 835.
The 980 will be powerful but technically won't be this generation. It will likely be using a 7nm process; and therefore compete with the SD 855 etc.

SoC-wise, Huawei is now the one playing catch-up. It's a pity because at one point in the past, they were the one on top.
