Samsung Galaxy Note9 may launch early and it's Galaxy S9's fault

29 March 2018
Analysts say the early 2018 flagship isn't selling as well as expected, so the late 2018 flagship may not be so late after all.

Sort by:

how bad is the sales of S9? are there any figure to show? I agree the S9 is a bit overpriced, it is not a major change from S8, price of S9 should be maintained the same, or even lowered.

I am an owner of S9 and S8. S9 does have improvements over S8, on all aspects. use it and will discover it. S9 is the current top design, it is the result of annually update. get the updated phone and keep myself updated.

bixby is a new way to interact with phone. I did not accept the bixby in the first full year of S8. But I started to try bixby on S9, it has great potential i would say, but that need time to practice. once can interact with the phone well, the phone can be used far more efficient and natural then ever before. a few inches closer to the way Stark interacts with his Friday.

Then I realized my current primary phone S7 don't have such great bixby installed. try adapt to the new tech, life can be more fun.

Strong adoption started with the S8 and its too early to talk about s9 sales. The s7 and S8 are more than enough for many people, the s6... Ughm not so much. It might be a slower move to s9 but it is for sure

Considering that batteries lose capacity with each charge, some suggest a loss of 50% after 300 cycles. That's less than a year! I am looking for larger and replaceable batteries in my smartphones than what Samsung is selling.

Samsung caused it own problems by copying Apple again by using the same body as there S8 models then Over Pricing there S9 models,if Samsung do the same with the Note 9, using the Note 8 Body and Over Value the Note 9 loads might get feed up with Samsung and attitude in suppose to please it Galaxy phone users but there not,and users switch to another more affordable phone

Chinese have done nothing astonishing, the most they've done is the indisplay finger print scanner and even then it's still a mediocre attempt. The variable aperature is more exciting than that. If you don't believe that's innovation then you clearly don't know the definition of innovation. No one was expecting that, everyone has been expecting an indisplay finger print scanner and there have been many news of other companies making break throughs from last year. It's cool and all but it's not a good alternative compared to the faster physical scanners and apple's face id. Not even the apex concept is astonishing. It's full screen which everyone has been expecting with a terrible attempt at hiding the camera. So yes, samsung are still innovators and are doing more than the chinese. Samsung sheep btw if you haven't noticed by now. :)

My wife is finally realizing a Galaxy Note is just the thing she needs for work - jotting notes with diagrams for technical meetings. Her subscription cycle is up, and it's waiting for another 5-6 months.

I personally will likely be with my Note8 still for another year, although a Blood Pressure measurement sensor is something. Camera is already way good in the Note8 that I'm not going to be wasting close to $1000 for variable aperture.

Last true Note is Note 5.

Thats how you take a Note.
On a wide non curved screen.

Is has to, it is basically s9+ with Pen.

Heck, it was already released, they just forgot to add the pen.

...ever since the Note 5 release the whole series has turned to a money grabbing scam. Basically no differentiation over the S series, just a late year S release that presumes to be something new, whilst in fact it is merely a naked attempt to pump Samsung flagship sales.

So it makes sense to release early this year. You could see from a mile that S9 would sell less than S8 (which is/was already an all time low Seller for S series), so they hope with the Note series they would recapture some of their mojo back.

Truth of the matter is that if Samsung is not to reclaim her innovator status she is going to become irrelevant fast. The chinese brands are far more exciting already. It's a shame too, because peak excitement on the android world happened by Samsung phones (S4, Note 4 come in mind). Sad to see a company falling so low due to suddenly deciding to pull back from innovation and loading thier phones with features (as compared to the competition)...

Samsung. A triple or quad camera would be a great idea on the note 9. Would love a mobile with a proper optical zoom range. Wide angle AND zoom could both be improved this way.

If the S9 is not selling so well as hoped for, it's no surprise at all. The phone looks almost exactly like the S8 and offers not that much more, while costing a lot more now the S8 is reasonably priced. Why would one update from an S8 to an S9 when the phones still works well and looks 95% the same. The only good phones from Samsung is the Note series. I am using Note8 since October and it's very good.
