Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones review

08 April 2018
Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones with Active Noise Canceling (Pure ANC) represent the peak of Beats consumer offerings. Now packing Apple's W1 chip, we've been using these for a while now to see how they perform.

How do I compare my beats studio 3 head phones with my iPad Air 2

Anonymous, 09 Apr 2018Such a shame that normal companies don't release products w... moreThere's no point, W1 is proprietary technology and they'd have to pay a hefty fee to Apple if they could ever hope to use it as Apple doesn't own those companies like it does Beats. Not only that, it's an iOS-only peripheral so it only works well for the Apple ecosystem and no other.

The other companies will have to develop other alternatives as far as efficiency goes, but even without something like W1 they're still far better than Beats is or ever will be. Because that chip is the only good thing about Beats today.

The quality of sound depends on the listener, not the product itself. I bought a pair of $1 earbuds that sounds just as superior, if not more, than a $20 pair of Skullcandys, or other similar makes and models. Just because something sounds right to you, don't mean it sounds right to someone else. It irks me reading comments from people who think they're the sound authority, and say all, for everyone else.

imRGZ, 11 Apr 2018I think you have to properly read my message again. I alrea... moreyou can't judge an entire brand by a single product which is over priced. At that price Bose does a better job at ANC. But sound quality, wired or wireless, sennheiser is superior to Sony. Sony's are too biased towards bass. i just watched the review.

Hello Life, 11 Apr 2018If you even slightly think that Sony come close to the like... moreI think you have to properly read my message again. I already said in that message that in WIRED headphones, Sennheiser, AT, Beyer & Co beat Sony hands down. In wireless, they have far more capable flagship in the form of wx1000m2. Sony's flagship wx1000m2 is touted as best ANC wireless headset by many. Even their sound quality is very good. So you are comparing a wireless headphone with a wired headset, and claiming them to be better sounding can? LOL. That is a given. No wireless headset can beat a wired headphone, which doesnt even cost half of that wireless can.

imRGZ, 10 Apr 2018Lol. Sennheiser HD598SE is best sub-200$ headphone. Even yo... moreIf you even slightly think that Sony come close to the likes of Sennheiser, ATH, and Beyerdynamic, its nothing but you are dreaming. Yes even the wireless version. I accidentally bought one of their H900 range. By accident I mean all the internet reviews in various websites. Such praise from both Critics in you tube to your average consumer. I have Sennheiser HD598 SR. But i needed something for mobility and closed back design. And I love Bass. Even my Sennheiser is always tuned to bass by Fiio amp. So yes I got the sony from amazon. What a shit load. It is far from what Sennheiser gives me at half the price. And yes no way to amp it up. If you listen to sony wireless after Sennheiser you will clearly see the difference in clarity right from the get go. Even the Bose QC, which my brother bought recently is more pronounced, although that costs 2-3 times more. I immediately clicked the amazon refund in that week. What surprised me most is, even after 100 hrs of burn in, the sound hardly took any change.

imparanoic, 09 Apr 2018That's incorrect, some phones with Oreo update will support... moreYep that was my point :-D but clearly I wrote it wrong.
Bluetooth 4.x + Android 8+ is required for LDAC to work (on non-Sony devices).

LDAC licencing was surprisingly "released" to "anyone".
There are Fiio, Shaling, Audeze, every Android 8+ phone, AudioTechnica recievers on their way to the market.
Sony probably did something reasonable for a change and let others to use it's bluetooth codec (for a licencing fee ofc). To be honest I am shocked, Sony is known for stupid decisions for a long time.

BTW got my Sony 1000xm2 - even on AptX HD, they sound really good. Can't wait for my LG V30+ to recieve Oreo.
Jays u-Jays have much better touch controls :-D Sony clearly did not use their brains when they designed it.

Ha ha... Another good looking less than average expensive crap from beats. I just don't understand why people still buys beats headphones? They sound one of the worst in that price range if not the worst. If their sound quality is a proof of their workmanship, i would guess there will be no difference between it's active or passive noise cancelelation. An intelligent person would buy a Sennheiser or a beyerdynamic or even a bose. Bose are really great for noise canceling. QC 35 is an excellent choice for that. Or Sennheiser pcx550 if you want a little better sound. They should cost the same as this crap and should be 2000 times better.

Such a shame that normal companies don't release products with the W1 chip. Beats have never had the best headphones for sound quality. Some bose headphones would be amazing.

MasEnha, 08 Apr 2018Sennheiser below $200 are craps.Sennheiser below 200$ are better than other brands under 200 bucks.. under 200$ you get PX80, PX 95,100,200.. you get HD 202, Momentum in ears, CX 180.. HD 598s.. and if you tell me hd 598 is crap, I think you need to visit a ENT specialist. In fact Sennheiser is the only one which have signature sound through out it's price range.
