Windows phone ( even it is not the windows 10 mobile) it was great base smartphone that better than Android in the low-end territory.
But the foolishness of Microsoft and the people who are in charge are just too short-sighted!
Microsoft could have flooded the third world market with Windows phone for the very basic purposes, and let people mess around with the OS as well as buildings app for it. I've said that before, if MS let people of China and India to Fxxx it how they sees fit or how they wanted it too. Windows mobile can be crazy ( or even better than Android). Just see how Android function in China. No one needs(care about) Google and they're all happy with those China-android phone.
Cause the basic function actually works better than Android on the low-end phone territory.

Nokia saves WP
Goddamnit they sold 10.5m smartphone back then. Wp only.
Nokia brought in BBM, path, and manyyyyyy apps. They REALLY TRIED
MS was the one to blame. They were inconsistent, and just not care about their own phone OS.
MS bought Nokia was a big mistake.

It would have been the third big phone OS if app developers played it fair, and not only develop for Android and iOS. In the end the app developers decide which OS you can buy if you want certain apps, and they decided there is only room for two phone operating systems. Period. WP is still my favorite OS.

i had a windows phone a few years ago, and it was perfect. the only down side was the lack of apps. i did find mostly what i needed, but there were still a few that android or iphone have but were unknown in the windows ecosystem. i do understand why, the developers have to create an app for 2 different operating systems, and then a 3rd appeared (windows), meaning yet another team had to create the same app for yet another system. too much of a hassle, too much work.

I blame MS, they just wanted to see it fail. How can you explain otherwise all suicide moves they've had done. Killing Nokia, no investment in R & D, no big marketing push ( if you think that during the launch of first Xbox they have throw in like 2 billions only on marketing no wonder why Xbox platform become an alternative to PSX),proprietary Apps better looking and with far more functions on Android and iOS, not listening their own fans etc...

They just couldn't keep up with the sheer amount of apps on the other platforms available or the functionality. Shame, since I kinda liked WP for a bit. Flaws were just too major in the end.

If your apps never upgrade , it's a dead OS...
So those phones are not smarphones, they are dumbphones!
