Tell me what othe OEM who support 5 years firmware update ?
and you mention Nokia 2 , the SD 212 which come late 2017 hahahahahaha

"Very smart" kid, now back to your school, no need trolling about your nokia here..

eurotroll, 20 May 2018Of curse Oreo market is rising but there will still be new ... moreI do think Nougat will be left for super low end phones like the Nokia 2 (which is running Oreo Go instead) and Oreo for modern day budget to mid range segment.
I really just don't like to receive Oreo update when it's already 1 year old when I get it.
At least if their security updates can fix my issues with the phone, such as weak RAM management and some battery drain.

ZolaIII, 20 May 2018It's not really even security updates. It's updated CVE's o... moreOh okay. Thanks for the info.
So I guess Xiaomi's updates are pretty worthless after all.

        ZolaIII, 20 May 2018The S625 perfectly fine support Android O & P, no you w... moreAnd that's what's sad about it.
I just wouldn't like Oreo anymore when it arrives to my device, as Android P will be the best thing of Android, and is a considerably bigger upgrade to the OS.

I get it that flagships usually get the newest updates first, but it's literally more than a month now since their flagships received the update and we're still stuck on a soon-to-be-outdated OS.
Many phones are now coming with Oreo. Maybe the low end phones will stay in Nougat, but similarly-priced phones to the Redmi 5 Plus will come with Android Oreo out of the box.
I may get security updates and MIUI 10, but no hopes for Android Oreo.
They never mentioned a thing about Oreo to Redmi 5 Plus (only Redmi Note 5 & Pro), and if it's going to come, it should've arrived along with the Note 5 & Pro, maybe a few more days after.

jireo12, 20 May 2018I need full review for this phone ASAP, Please. ThanksMe too. Waiting for it.

Ascorth, 20 May 2018Did you even read my words ? (No wonder you get your fact f... moreOh wow. You really can't seem to understand my point at all. You said those words already, and I fully understand it, that's why I'm elaborating.
Maybe it's you who's not reading mine carefully.

Other OEMs can provide good update system and support at this price point. Again I said I don't ask for iOS-level support, but at least one major upgrade is all I want.
Nokia 2, for only $100, is running a more latest version of Android than my Redmi 5 Plus, and will likely be supported for a lot longer.
So you're saying that I should pay more?
Isn't a great all-around budget smartphone is what Xiaomi is made for?

Security patches are already good, but it's nonsense with a very late version of Android. I want an Android upgrade in OS because more apps will work better on those versions in the future. I'm not that person who always has the money to spend for a smartphone annually.
I also want to update because there are some issues on my phone that is caused by software, such as the mediocre noise cancellation algorithm from the microphone in video recording. This specific problem is non-existent on the Redmi Note 5 Pro running Android Oreo, and I do believe that my issue can just be fixed with a software update.

Mostly, I really don't like the fact that newer and older competing devices are now running Oreo or has gotten the Oreo update straight OTA.
I hate that it would be my phone that's last to receive Oreo, or to get the update when everyone else is already preparing to upgrade to Android P.

Obviously you are still going to defend your own stand, but this is my last hope for you to finally understand mine.

I'm still using a Redmi Note 3 that runs on MIUI 7 and Lollipop (!). Apart from a slight difference in browser behavior, it still pretty much does everything I need day-to-day. The emphasis on what's under the hood is lost on me.

Ascorth, 20 May 2018Did you even read my words ? (No wonder you get your fact f... moreAnd he cant say Nokia as the new with android have not been out 5 years to say abut the quality of them and updates. And well tbh Nokia isnt really budget phone as even on there so called budget phones have to weak hardware versus competition on there prices. From looking the price of Nokia 6X with it's SD636 and this Note 5 AI the price difference is over 100 euro. For the price of 6X i could get something that have SD660 in them already.

I for one have had most of my phones Nokia's but when they went with droid and with stock as they dont do anything to it was fail for me as it's just another android that has no difference. And well all there phone prices were to high for my budget range. So i went with Black Redmi Note 5 AI 3/32GB with glass film version for 172 euro 9 days ago. And it got in my country yesterday. As today is Sunday the post office dont work today then it will take few days to sort out there part and maybe if i am lucky i can get the phone without paying tax 20% for it. But well thats only more 35 euro for it not much to give.

My first try to buy a phone from online shop from China was last year fall when i bought Leagoo Kiicaa Mix just to understand the quality i get for 92 euro. I cant make much difference with my last Nokia Lumia 830 that had aluminium body and didnt last even 2 years so build quality seems ok for the Leagoo, at least for me. And it supports some UK football club. There are few things that are bad for it like call speaker is in corner and on the edge pointing up. Hard to listen any calls with it as sound from there coming out bad too. But as a 5.5 inch screen phone it had good dimensions as only 141mm tall and weight was 141g for a 3000mAh battery it good. And well my next try is Xiaomi for a twice of the price.

My first touchscreen phone was Samsung Galaxy Gio and next was Nokia Lumia 520 and then 830. Before with dumbphones i had mostly Nokia phones. Ericsson and sony ericsson.

But now they are nothing special for me and price is to high for what i get. Only stock droid, type-c with 3.5mm and smaller dimensions wont make them that different that i would pay more for older hardware with lower performance. I dont need updates all the time i dont use the phone in that manner that i need them for some apps.

Shanti Dope, 20 May 2018Okay, security update is good. But still, at least just one... moreDid you even read my words ? (No wonder you get your fact false)
It refers to whoever buy this phone, They will buy, even after read your negative comment.

I care to reply because you make false statement.

Redmi note series usually get 1 major android upgrade, but care to remind you this is BUDGET phone. It is not a flagship. So dont complaint.

Tell me one brand beside xiaomi who still upgrade their MIUI for 5 Years old smartphone ?

Asking major android ? Pay more and Tell Qualcomm/mediatek to support their driver.

Ps : im not mifans, i just tired to someone pay less but asking more

Oreo have been out for a half a year by now or less ? Oreo will be on new phones for sure. That's not the point. It how much of the new phones get them and especially budget and ultra budget range. That should be logical but seems like it's not

It's updated CVE's only on the ROM side not on kernel side so it can't really be called security update as you are still vulnerable to anything that whose not patched on the kernel side & that's a crucial side.

It's shameful what Xiaomi doesn’t update Android version on Readme series even when it has it developed in fully from other Mi twin device (example RN3 - Mi Max N).

I didn't ask or expect them to be competing with Google in updates, but give us stable yet reliable updates in a short period of time regularly and I'd be more than satisfied.

And what you have just said is Xiaomi from the past. Today, they have shown many changes in their strategies.
In fact, they are actually about to be beaten by their competitors in their own game; great value-for-money devices.

If nobody really cares about what I have said, then I shouldn't be seeing anyone trying to reply to them at all. You just did, and you've just made your own point to be false.

I NEVER see Camera apps from android/iOS has complete setting like DSLR has.
