You put the dial on, for example, Aperture priority, set the aperture and the wanted picture style, and shoot. You even have touch screens for everything. And if you don't like any of the picture styles, you can set a custom one, or you can process the RAW files later, to your liking.
What's not good and not solid there?

But what most nowadays cheap digital camera missed is how to build a better and solid firmware, incl. their image processing.

Having your phone to understand what you are capturing will benefit it from adjusting its parameters accurately.

Just over priced brick with stoc... moreAndroid Oreo's market share is rising at a very constant rate, that it might even surpass Nougat soon enough, especially with new mid range smartphones like Nokia X6, Oppo RealMe 1, Oppo F7, Vivo V9, Huawei P20 Lite, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Zenfone Max Pro M1, and even Zenfone 5Q, all of which are now running on Android Oreo, and at least 75% of them are out of the box, while the others come shortly to the phone as OTA update.

I feel really old now with my Redmi 5 Plus. It's just a 2017 smartphone, which was released around the same time as the Mate 10 Lite. Heck it was even released later on.
In comparison, Huawei has so many models on their lineup, most of which are just similar to each other, with only different names. But their capability to update their phones that quick just puts Xiaomi into shame.
Xiaomi has only like 4 different lineups of phones; Mi Mix, Mi, Mi Note, and Redmi.
Now I understand that flagships will usually get the update first, but the Mi Mix series, which is considered as Xiaomi's highest end lineup, isn't really treated like a flagship at all.
The updates on those phones are as good as Nokia's treat on their Nokia 2.
Huawei at least makes sure to roll out updates quickly before releasing too many phones.

Android Oreo will be 1 year old by the time that update arrives to my phone, and Android P will be the next best thing already.
In comparison, my previous phone, the Asus Zenfone Max, received Marshmallow update OTA for about 2 months before Android Nougat became official, so in that case, I was running the latest version of Android for at least 2 months.

While not a big upgrade, there will be certain apps in the future that will be optimized to work better on newer versions of Android OS. Perhaps even some apps might only work on new phones.
I don't need a drastic change in the appearance or usage of the software. I'm only interested in the new features brought by newer version of Android, which are far more important than UI changes.

And I really doubt that Redmi 5 Plus will get Oreo, considering the SnapDragon 625 is already a 2-year old chipset and isn't a mainstream or highly-used one, enough to force the OEMs to give it further updates.
If others are now giving Oreo to their phones, which are also released in the same time that this phone came out, I really think it will no longer be possible.
If it happens, it might be at a time when other phones are already preparing for the Android P upgrade, which is now a considerably bigger upgrade to Android OS.

At least with MIUI you get more features to discover and wont be boring empty stock version where you need to know what you want.
But then again you will log in with your gmail and copy your old settings over so makes no difference what you had before that didn't get updates.
And you don't need to find more of new interesting programs to try out.
Making new apps is always harder cause you need to support android 6, 7, 8 and then 9 that is coming soon and then comes soon tenth and eleven and so on. If new version pop up so fast then it's harder to make new app's. Half a year for one update.
There is coming loads of android models out every year on lets say android 7 and now 8 and there are not a lot of 18:9 (2:1) screen phones that have Oreo on them and have hope to get even. So think of the size of the world market that still have android 7 and even KitKat android 4.4
The more users you support with your app the better for you.

Winston, 20 May 2018And how do they do that? Cos, as far as i know, the details... moreNah. I'm not into those phones with cheesy words. It's not really worth trying because it's not really there in real world.

and redmi 5 plus will get Oreo for sure, you just need to wait

I don't even understand why updates are only exclusive to high end phones when it's supposed to be for every single smartphones in the world.
I'm not expecting up to 4 years of support, but I disagree with NO UPDATES at all!
Nokia can update even the lowest end of their phones, and my phone, being superior to that, can't even be updated quickly?? Dude, I'm being scammed!

Updates can be problem-free if they are serious in updating it. Nokia phones all work very well even with daily updates, and that is just from a company who's starting all over again.
Xiaomi has been out and profitable for years now, and their money is enough to invest for improvements in software department. Obviously that's not the case, since they only use them for their own good.

Update is one of the reason why Android still can't overtake iOS. And I'm already ashamed to admit that almost NOTHING has changed in all these years in this regard.
I don't like Apple, in fact I hate their customer service and their decisions, but their update system is seriously the best-in-class today. Yeah sure, they're not as feature-rich as Android, but I'd rather have less features (most of which I don't need at all) with long-term support than feature-packed one but with no updates to make it better.

The reason why iPhone 4 is still a highly-used phone today is because of how it has pretty much all the features from new version of iOS.
If you don't think updates matter, Google won't be requiring every Android phone OEMs to give at least 2-year updates for their phones.

It is obvious that HUAWEI's AI is just a renamed and improved Auto Mode, I am not feeling the WoW factor from HUAWEI's AI, it doesn't hold up to the definition of artificial intelligence, same goes to those brands trying to rename their Auto Mode into AI. If u want the real artificial intelligence, look at NVIDIA, that is the real definition of artificial intelligence. This just shows how far smartphones are behind in terms of artificial intelligence, the only thing that I see in the smartphone world that could define artificial intelligence is Google's work on Duplex

You should take a deep breath and read. I've just pointed-out real reasons why people go for custom ROMs, even when they have the best of stock ROMs. Did you miss the part where Google themselves, the creators of Android and makers of some of the best devices out-there, despite giving the best support you could possibly find on Android, are also the ones in which their costumers are at the top to ask for a custom ROM?
