Ooh, I can't wait for this review! After that, please do consider reviewing Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 since it is Xiaomi Redmi Note 5's direct rival. This is indeed a great battle in the midrange segment.

    LG Superfan, 20 May 2018All it does is recognize scene.and boost colors, saturation... moreThough with AI, the scene can be understood much more, which allows the software to be adjusted accurately according to the scene.

      Geric.770, 20 May 2018It's ok bro. At least you have the budget beast of Xiaomi. ... moreWith the existence of Oppo RealMe1, and my phone's bigger brother, the Redmi Note 5 Pro (which is only a few dollars more expensive but is pretty much better in the most important things from a smartphone), this phone can't be a beast. Heck, not even a great deal smartphone either.
      If only I waited a few more days, I could've had something like the Zenfone Max Pro M1, which is guaranteed to be supported until Android P, not like this trash which will definitely not get any major updates at all.

        Anonymous, 20 May 2018I don't know about Oreo, but you will get MIUI 10Most of the new MIUI 10's features will be based on Android Oreo. It probably won't come to my phone anyway, considering the Redmi 4 (not the Note 4x) didn't get any major updates at all.

          Anonymous, 20 May 2018It's Xiaomi. They recently updated Redmi 1s. Yours is much ... moreStill, considering the chipset is already about 2 years old as of now, Oreo might not be supported anymore.
          I may only get Oreo when everyone is already preparing for Android P upgrade. Typical Xiaomi, even their flagships aren't running it yet, and I can't expect their budget phones to be any better.

            ZolaIII, 20 May 2018& you get worse phone (Huawei) with same problematic so... moreMIUI is one of the main reasons I buy only Xiaomi phones beside that you can officially unlock it and flash custom roms. Why would you spray it with crap if you simply don't like it? Guys like you send a product to failure just because you have a bad mouth! I'm also a flashoholic and try almost all roms out there, but I always come back to MIUI because it looks just awsome and is already packed with a lot of features I already need:
            - Clone apps: try to clone any app without any trouble within custom roms without paying for third apps;
            - Second space;
            - A ton of themes;
            - Built in professional Calculator;
            - Hide files in File manager app;
            - Hide SMS conversation;
            - Use finger print to lock specific apps;
            - Built in Permision manager;
            - Complex Notification settings for every app;
            And many more that I'm not thinking right now!
            How many apps and modules you need to install to have all of this?...
            And... did you see MIUI 10?... I simply can't wait to have it!

              My phone shows in tracking "Started customs clearance process"
              And thats only after 8 days from ordering. So it a super fast delivery from xiaomi online shop for this note 5 AI. I dont care much about the camera or updates cause i buy phones that cost under 200 euro. If i want updates then i would go with Nokia but there is nothing to chose from cause of hardware is nothing on them that i want or when they have good hardware then it has other issues like the notch. But mostly why i dont want Nokia is that it's a brand device that ask brand price for every of there devices. Like this 6X will have SD636 but the price for it will be something 250+ euro when it comes to EU. And when i buy it online from some other country i need to pay tax of 20% more for it. With my Note 5 AI i got the 3/32GB version for 172 euro and i need to pay more 35 euro for tax so in total it will be 207 euro. So far i have not seen any reviews that talk bad things about this device and especially cause of the value of the price it has. Seems like it does better pictures then Iphone X even in some cases and is on par with Samsung S7 camera or slightly better. While i have done pictures in past year only like 10-20 of them so i dont need that feature on it too. And well i dont play games. I went with it cause it has 4000mAh battery and SD636. I cant wait when Asus SD636 comes out so i can get it for 20 euro less money and has stock android what i dont care much as i can get custom ROM on Xiaomi too when i want it. And well this one comes out of the box with Oreo on it too. And seems that it will get droid P on it too as it was in the list of supported Android P devices list.

I can take a MicroG build of Lineage and run a Google free device without much concessions regarding the apps I'm able to run. Where is that in Kirin powered Huaweis? (It isn't yet, only Treble may save them as development for Kirin devices has always been dismal).

For less money than you pay for these phones, you can have a nice APS-C size sensor camera, which will make far better photos than any phone.

                      Good to see you are finally reviewing this device. But please also review Indian version asap.

It's a same old story for all of those OEM's you can have it better only if you do it yourself. All the ROM's baring my name as a contributor ended much better than what OEM ever provided with their firmware. You can find them on XDA & MoDaCo. I don't play with Equnos as not much of the people does & almost no one does with Kirin's. You are just clueless funboy & a standard regular user who dissent have idea how things work nor how they might be.

Mi5s is the last Mi series with great camera department. Also, Mi Mix series are always stick with those shitty 1/3" sensor so thats why.

                                  Not about AI. Its about that huge 1/2.55" 12MP 1.4micrometer pixel size on budget device.

                                    it is a buggy laggy phone worst xiaomi experience on global version the phone is slow and sometimes camera app couldn't load the clicked photos and fails to respond to even the tap on shutter button on builtin camera software.. some other xioamis are good but this one is not good at all.. ant the touch panel is worst of its kind.. theres just so much input lag.. infact playing 8 ball pool is a bit messy coz the touch is not precisely taken by the display.. totally a huge down for xioami there...

                                      With its price always in mind and overall- it is definitely a major Go.

Custom roms good when software is really buggy or support is ditched (lg, asus). But you don't know what are you talking about saying that about Huawei phones.
