This isn’t news. And why does GSMA need some guy to say this? Except for Apple no other manufacturer ever claimed it to be a 3D scanner. Its a convenience at best. Not a security feature.
Apple iphone can be unlocked by twins / siblings / with a 3D printed head and a lens with a little motion.
Samsung’s iris scanner can be fooled with an IR picture of the eyes & a lens.
Other androids had a face unlock feature as a less secure method since 4.2? It gives you a warning saying it won’t be secure

It's OnePlus what do you expect from it!!?
If it was a reliable phone they could destroy the market. They just literally lie to their customers and fool them, if OnePlus was really a good company could bi as big as Huawei or at least in China as big as Xiaomi.

I'd rather to use a fingerprint scanner... it's more secure - Although it is uncommon for an individual to just have a printed photo of yours (or stored in a device at that moment) to access your phone; it is way less probably that he/she cuts your first phalanx or use a microfilm? :p

My OP5 isn't fooled by a photo either. OnePlus has really gotta get their sh!t together. Thank God my OP5 is still going strong as the day she came out of the box, because I definitely don't see a reason to upgrade at the moment.

Even a Samsung or Iphone phone can get fooled by photo face id was always just like a game for toying but not meant to be real security.
Fingerprint is billion times more secure than this piece of so called proffesional technology which is nothing else than a chinese toy disguised as a proffesional secure program.

Later, that year and 2012,2013,2014,2015,2016,2017 its standard feature in os, but some OEMs is disabled that. Another feature from Lollipop (2014) and above is.. Voice unlock.

can be easily fixed by the following algorithms
1) the user most tern his head left and right and blink there eyes to check if it is a face or a picture
2) check if the light is coming from the picture or the background (checking if there is a back ground or not is enough) it can be done with a secondary camera and depth effects to detect the background
3) dual camera one on each side of the bezel to give a 3D view of the pictures (like the old 3D cameras)
absolutely OP was focusing on speed not security since they can't say (hi our face unlock is faster and as secur as Apple) but they can still say (0.1s face unlock) tho they need to unload some data (color,security protocol,Auto camera setting) and fully rely on the digital data
the funny thing is that face unlock was first introduced by Android 4.0 update BUT it was eventually abandoned because of the picture security problems and the fingerprint sensor then made a comeback after Apple made the hard/AI face iD to fix the problem
will Samsung used an iris scanner from Microsoft to fix the face iD problem BUT mow with them adding face iD as a backup protocol in case the user closes his eyes which means someone can take a picture of you closing you eye (or edit the pictures to close them) and hack the phone (why would you close them any way?)

Don't generalize gsmarena, the 5T doesn't do that. It's a software thing for sure.
