Since the screen is OLED, it can be done like how Samsung does it with edge lighting, but instead of being on the curved edges, it will just be a small circular LED light blinking on the left/right screen portion next to the notch.

I do believe that LG is commendable for optimizing AOD on LCD with partial backlight. But a notification RGB LED beats AOD by miles if battery life if your concern but also want timely notifications.

The chin? Well, it's still impossible to have a no-chin design for less than $900, but the one on this phone is smaller than the others, so there's that.
Still recall the Huawei Mate RS? That phone needs to cost $1000 to have both screen-embedded and backside fingerprint scanners. This one also has, for only half the price!
You tell me, does the S9/S9+ for $700 have this??

It's actually nice that the screen is AMOLED, which further improves the efficiency.
Take a look at the LG G5 and G6, both of which have IPS LCD screens and AOD yet still have good battery lives.

And we haven't talked about how thin that bottom chin is as compared to other Android OEMs.
I'm sure there will be an option to make the horns black and hide the notch, and the screen being AMOLED makes it a huge possibility.
Besides, where do you find a 2018 flagship phone with lots of great hardware features for only a bit more than $500??
OnePlus 6 doesn't even stand a chance to how great of a value this phone is, which is a huge shame considering OnePlus's main selling point is the greatest value flagship phone.

Did Xiaomi remove the notification LED ? That's really a bad thing if it's true. People will be forced to use the Always-On Display for notifications, which eats battery like crazy.

Explorer edition is LIT!! Its way better than OP6 i think. Face ID and in display fps. Wow. Also, the transparent back looks fabulous. Sure, they could have reduced the bottom chin, but hey we are getting this for less than 40k. This is the real flagship killer. Wish it had an IP rating and dual stereo speakers.

Now that I've seen the final product, I'm dissapointed. Design wise, this is below the Mi mix 2. It's now similar to the rest in the zoo. Just doesn't stand out. Looks like another LG G7, One plus 6, P20 with the stupid notch. Funny thing is the other guys have no choice because they haven't cracked the bezeless innovation. Now why Xiaomi, why
