Google working on a Snapdragon 710-powered Pixel smartphone for early 2019

This could be the rumored mid-range device from the tech giant we've heard before or an entirely different phone.

Apps need to work with the new OS same like on android or IOS. If the OS is to different then it takes too long time till it get popular or worth making cause people cant live without there need of apps.

That would be awesome but too expensive my guess is $600 atleast

Also why would google Have Android One and Android Go if they wanted to Make Pixel Mass market.

It doesnt make sense Pixel isnt for the Mass Market and will never be expect the Pixel 3 to Cross the 1000$ Mark.

And in that sense even this Pixel with SD 710 will cross 700$ easily.

35-40% Amercians dont drive a Ferrari but Sure in a few years I hope that no of people will be driving a tesla so lets consider Pixel as the tesla of phones.

xXENDER FREAKXx, 02 Jun 2018Based on the scores of SNAPDRAGON 660 smartphones in AnTuTu... moreNah, it's still a midrange. Scores will surpass the old flagship SoCs sure, but it's still considered as midrange because it can't beat the new 845 out there and they classified the 700 series as the new upper midrange SoC with AI capabilities and other important stuff.

YoloBS, 02 Jun 2018Don't we have android one in mid range!Android One is made for other OEMs who want to build a stock Android phone with updates nearly as good as Google's own devices, but still wants it to be branded as their phone and not a property of Google.
Maybe you have the misconception that Android One is only for the mid rangers. No, ANY Android phone can be complied to Android One program if the OEM decides to do so.
Perfect examples are Nokia phones, where the Nokia 2 is an Android One phone. The Nokia 8 and 8 Sirocco are both Android One phones as well.

This one, however, will technically be a true Google Pixel phone that's controlled directly by Google (in the software) but as the category suggests, with lowered down specs for mid range territory and price tag (if this will be priced like a mid ranger, that is). Updates are going to be faster on this one since it's Google who controls its software, and is going to benefit from every goodie that Google's offering into their own products, one of which is that awesome Google Camera software with HDR+.

Mostly they're used to the iOS ecosystem, which isn't exactly a bad one, but technically inferior to Android IMO.
The newest iPhone though might be a different story because of its complicated gestures and all that.

xXENDER FREAKXx, 02 Jun 2018Based on the scores of SNAPDRAGON 660 smartphones in AnTuTu... moreIt can't be considered a flagship when it can't beat or even compete with the main top-of-the-line flagship chipset from the same exact brand from the same exact year.
The 710 needs to beat the 845 in most things where it matters, mainly performance (which includes CPU, GPU, NPU, ISP, etc.) in order to be classified as a flagship processor of 2018.

We can say it does beat old flagship processors like the 820, but that's not fair to be compared considering its age.
The 710 is a power house mid range chipset, but definitely NOT a flagship one

YoloBS, 02 Jun 2018They are lots of third party camera apps in google play store!None of them offers the same image processing algorithm that Google Pixel cameras offer.
There are ports fron XDA Developers, but often they require an unlocked bootloader or even sometimes root access, both of which can be risky and sometimes complicated depending on the phone brand (some makes this task easy, while others make it next to impossible).

This will be mini pixel at $600 with a fair bit of compromises compared to ~$900 flagship pixels. Meanwhile one plus will launch flagship level specs for below $600. Strategy seems to be gain fan boys like Apple. They still sell iPhone 6S and people buy those phone just for that logo and so called status.

Don't we have android one in mid range!

It's simply due to perception of premium screamers like you that devices are this expensive and offer much less compared to what we pay. And putting mass market manufacturer in same vein as Rolex or Armani. Lol..

Luxor, 02 Jun 2018I believe SD710 device is a semi flagship and not midrange.... moreBased on the scores of SNAPDRAGON 660 smartphones in AnTuTu 7 at a average score of 140000 in my own observation, it is very likely that the SNAPDRAGON 710 will reach 170000, surpassing the SNAPDRAGON 820 smartphones' score, even my XPERIA XZ and XPERIA XZs scored in between 160000 and 170000, so I guess we could call a SNAPDRAGON 710 smartphone a flagship???

A mid range phone with great camera because of Google's HDR+ image post processing!!
Xiaomi needs to do something like this for all of their phones, and need not to worry about all of them having the same exact image quality (which would make the more expensive ones nonsense) due to the same exact post processing. The better hardware of the higher end Xiaomis will obviously produce better images and do it much better too. But we need an improvement, because they kept marketing the 1.25um pixel size of the cameras of their Redmi phones yet the results are far away from the best that 1.25um pixels can do.
