I'm gonna fix the POOL question...

I'd rather get a bigger battery. A battery has a finite amount of charge cycles before it dies so fast charging just kills your battery faster.

If there was finally a businessman that once again has his ear to the actual tech (like Steve Jobs was) we wouldn't have to have silly arguments like the above (obviously both having low autonomy and/or thicker phones are bad ideas).

Really a waste of time.. this debate.

The real problem is this 18:9 aspect ratio garbage.

Please post an image of a 6 inch 18:9 phone, next to a 6 inch 16:9 phone, so people can see how ridiculously bad the new aspect ratio is for media consumption.

Kiyasuriin, 11 Jun 2018Gorgeous idea. ^^ However. There are issues. A lot of peop... moreTis easy. The lock would be internal (in the main body of the phone/back) and controlled via software on an nfc badge (if you are out of juice). There is/are no external crevaces.

If anything the phone would be better sealed than any current phone as it will lack any ports (there would be only one, sealed when the back is attached, only used for service).

Only real downside is that you'd be forced to use wireless earbuds (no ports), but that can easily be fixed if your battery/back/charger can charge them via contact. So merely having them in the same pocket would slowly charge your wireless headphones.

Like I said the tech is here. Unfortuantely all the main things of a phone is basically the same as the origianl iphone , an 11 year old tech, because Steve Jobs is dead and nobody else has the guts to make big changes.

I mean imagine if Jobs were not to come up with the iphone. We would still be using blackberries which are very similar to 90s phones in their main idea.

Similarly we use 00s phones still bedause nobody is gutsy to create a nuphone. I.e. a phone that has no battery anxiety, has no buttons, has no ports, it is all screen, water proof, and charges your wireless headphones.

A lot of people REQUIRE having IPxx rating in their phone, so assuming the idea is implemented, how would you make sure it's still water&dust resistance?
Other than this, I'd pleasantly use such a phone.

I'm glad people prefer battery over slim phone or even dislike the slim phone all together. Time for review sites to see that thickness of phones is matter of personal preference and it seems like they've gotten too thin.
Next we need to shed some common sense on "screen to body ratio" and screen size.

what companies do , making smartphones slimmer , remove OIS and lower battery capacity for keeping costs lower ....
and they learned this from apple , duh ...!!

just look at OP5/5T , they reduced battery , and removed OIS ,
I'm pretty sure one of the most important reasons for poor sales of Motorola flagships are their battery and OIS ,

nowadays , even women buy heavy iPhone 8 plus and don't pay attention for getting lighter phones . so as the men...

I personally vote for slimmer phones but I can't live with phones that needs charging everyday; it's just not cool, so in my opinion there are some things that needs to change so users can have a slim phone and a large battery or more endurance:

                            1. Today battery technology is two decades old, be it Lithium-ion or Lithium-polymer still there should be improvements for longer endurance and capacity within lesser space.
                            2. Logic board tech is advancing rapidly and chip die size is shrinking every year, so this is an advantage about battery endurance, but yet flagship chipsets are not optimized to last more than a day on heavy use, so this is what really needs more efforts and OEMs should produce more efficient chipsets without hurting performance (just look Apple chips!).
                            3. Faster charging can negate low battery endurance but it is yet not convenient with 4000 or more mAh batteries. (0-100% within less than an hour please!)
                            4. Screen tech is the most important of all when it comes to battery endurance because screen drains the most juice on use. An efficient microLED tech can make slim phones capable of lasting more than a day with 2500-3000 mAh batteries.
                            5. To divide today phones with chunky device of a decade ago, a 7-7.5mm is the best solution while maintaining functionality of a smartphone and being sexy at the same time.

Phones that are too thin are difficult to hold on to. It's difficult to take a photo with it. People prefer a phone they can grip. If thinness is a concern then why do people buy protective case for their phone?

I'm not saying they should compromise on camera quality, on the contrary - i'm saying they need to make the phone thicker and not only the camera won't protrude, but there will be room for a bigger battery and better cooling and better speaker (If they bother putting one). It's a win-win. there's no need for protruding cameras, unless they are enormous like Galaxy zoom or something like that (Which is fine, too, there needs to be smartphones like that too).

I would rather a thicker phone, bigger battery, less protruding camera and easier to hold without dropping, the reason the cameras are protruding so much in the newer phones is because they are too thin, a few extra mm would make them flat with the design.

I think the manufacturing process and electronics design has to change fundamentally. Either that or battery technology has to change.

Instead of putting all the silicon into discrete packages with pins, and attaching these to motherboards, one (challenging) way to improve it is to impose all silicon directly on the same substrate, essentially making the whole phone a single piece of silicon.

If they can solve that, the phone will both be cheaper to make, and there will be more space for battery.
