22 June 2018
Samsung is working on a 3D facial recognition to substitute the iris scanner. An advanced in-display fingerprint also rumored.

Thirdly, the hell is a wall stud finder?
In a wall, under the gyprock, you have timber beams (studs). I was joking (note the lolol) but it could be done.

In display fingerprint scanner adds extra cost its not needed when FPS on the back works perfectly.

I do see Double GPS being a new thing like the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer.

An IR blaster and a built in FM radio in a phone have absolutely nothing to do with the affordability or availability of wifi or mobile data. You can have unlimited wifi and mobile data but still not be able to use your phone as a master remote everywhere you go or force it to play local news in your local or regional language as not all FM radio stations broadcast online. Besides, why waste battery power and mobile data for something that is supposed to be free?

Samsung decision to ditch the Iris scanner for the in-display fingerprint sensor is a wise one. They probably knows their company are the only one that keep using the iris sensor for their phone. This means the price of iris sensor mamufacturing is still exceptionally high with zero demands from other brands. Switching to a more commonly used tech like facial recognition is well played since the price would be much lower. Investing in something that already have a wide market is always a better choice.

deanmorr, 23 Jun 2018What ? Your house doesn't have any items that use IR = TV, ... moreIR blaster and FM radio is well justified if you really really have no access to the internet like wifi or mobile data. In that case, people without wifi or mobile data can be assumed of not being able to afford it, right? Exactly. So, if anyone have a real need for IR blaster and FM radio they should opt for non-flagship phone. Buy a proper midranger or budget phone is good enough for people who have less wealth. Manufacturer understand this and thats why such features still exist in budget phone. They dont expect people who have less would try to buy a flagship anyway.

In contrary, flagship phone are designed for people that can afford basic modern neccessity like wifi and mobile data. In other words, modern city folks. They have no worries of not having access to the internet. Their home are most probably control by using IoTs. Internet of Things has replaced the need for IR blaster. You should know by now Google Home, Amazon Echo, Apple Homepod and such are living in smart homes nowadays. News, online shopping, personal schedule, music and internet browsing all in one. They can just command and access everything connected with IoTs with their voice or smartphone. Hope that clear ups some of the things.

Firstly, they can't exactly make flat screens for the flagships. The phones look less attractive then and are then hard to distinguish from other phones.
Secondly, FM radio and IR blaster are awesome features, they shouldn't have given up on those but again, the mainstream market doesn't care about it
Thirdly, the hell is a wall stud finder?
And lastly, in display fingerprint scanner makes sense because it is in a much more accessible place to use it, especially if it's sitting upright, plus, it looks and feels cool.

someone, 22 Jun 2018IR Blaster, FM Radio ??? ... u r still in 2008 ???? ... run... moreI can't blame you for being naive about ir blasters and FM radios. You probably belong to the 'Facebook' generation or if not, have the mindset of that generation. Not all people are obsessed with Facebook use you know. If you knew how pretty much all appliances use ir blasters or how many 'more mature' people care about real, live news and local music in their own language without wasting data or battery life in the process prefer FM radio over Spotify or some online music app, then you wouldn't have said that 'juvenile' post. The 'Facebook' generation seem to be only using their phones solely for selfies and Facebook and phone manufacturers are more than happy to sell them disposable flagship phones without ir blasters and FM radios year after year with the only thing 'new' is fake software bokeh, a portrait mode or some other 'new feature' in the selfie or camera department.
