Akinaro, 01 Jul 2018Its optic and camera algorithms problem. dslr can make nice... moremaybe but I think pixel devices put all of their efforts to do that with one sensor already, and huawi, samsung and iPhone had tried their best with two... they are cutting edge devices, it means that they do what technology best could do in couple of months ago yet as long as DOF is in question results are not yet close to acceptable-too much misjudge of distances and ugly unreal artifacts-I tried many phones myself(including iPhone x and GS9). of course I think 5 or 9 lenses in a phone may do the trick but that is not acceptable either (too much volume and high prices plus probably thick and ugly phones)…

Kiyasuriin, 01 Jul 2018Turing Phone. And the project is still postponed. Turing Monolith Chaconne is a vaporware. The company went bankrupt without shipping (or even showing a working prototype) a single unit of any phone they ever announced, while having received payments for the product(s).

Kangal, 02 Jul 2018Anyone wondering, the prototype Light Camera actually perfo... moreLol Pixel 2 still relevant? Seriously? When Master AI in P20 Pro turned off, can Pixel 2 beats it?
Can Pixel 2 3x & 5x hybrid zoom detail as P20 pro? No.
Can Pixel 2 beat P20 in low lights? No.
Can Pixel 2 handheld Night Shot as impressive as P20 Pro? No.
So the features definitely not a gimmick, when things works. Really cant understand why there are still people think Pixel 2 beats P20 Pro camera, maybe live in a cave lol. Go watch yourself various youtube comparison dude (Pixel Peepers recommended) or even experience it yourself.

Anyone wondering, the prototype Light Camera actually performed WORSE than a smartphone and was a joke to even consider replacing a DSLR with. Just read up on a myriad of professional reviews on it.
The only reason they didn't die is because.... its a gimmick, and gimmick's are easy to market and sell products with. So its just following the heels of the Huawei P20 Pro, but both are actually inferior to the Pixel 2 let alone a dedicated DSLR.
You can't substitute small dual or triple cameras... instead of one large, high quality lens camera. And no amount of the "AI" marketing gimmick is going to change that.

Just seeing phone with such many holes giving me the creeps.
A creepy phone with strange looks like.
It looks like million of worms chunked this device in and out into the pieces.
Just the imagination of this is horrible.

ALMBO6, 01 Jul 2018They should just stop, no one will buy that because it'll b... moreWell mate the same.
Would like a phone with theses camera capabilities maybe a 3x A2 bionic latest CPU made for upcoming apple flagships with same newest GPU to power all these new add-ons. Maybe a 16 or 32GB ram. Diskspace of 128TB.
The best ever display which is awailable at the moment. XZ2 premium have or Razer 120 HZ refresh rate display with IGZO certification. Dolby atmos subwoofer speakers same like Razer have and many new and interesting gadgets.
Would like to see that kind of phone.

It will be interesting how this innovat... moreIndeed there is a huge progress in stacking images.
But stacking is not an alternative, but an ADDITIONAL option.
What ever post processing technique that can be used to try, to compensate for the shortcomings on a single tiny sensor, could equally well be used to improve the results from a large sensor (e.g. dSLR), or as here an array of sensors....
We could get insane ISO sensitivity, if the stacking technique was applied to a medium format sensor...
I have high hopes for future Nokia phones too :)

I prefer another tech progress which is large 44.3 MP (7680 x 5760) sensor that's capable of 8K video recording (7680 x 4320).
Some will say it's overkill, but hey, it will become a new norm for flagships in a few years I believe.

It will be interesting how this innovation pans out physically in a phone. Wouldn't be surprised if it is Nokia however Pixel does an amazing job with their dedicated processing chips just for the camera for best in class with a single clean lens. Watching with interest.

Akinaro, 01 Jul 2018"" deliver DSLR-like performance in low-light conditions an... moreTo have a really big sensor in a phone, would require a substantial thickness, we are talking at least a couple of centimeters.
Noise is random, by having more than one sensor, or taking multiple shots with a single sensor, it is possible to reduce the noise, since it won't be in the same place in all the images.
Multiple sensors, also allows for capturing different exposures at the same time.
At no point, will a single sensor and a good optic actually outperform more than one sensor and more than one lens, given the quality was on par. The price would rise for having more than one sensor, and for the needed image processing.
It could be argued that the benefit at some sizes and some prices does not make up for the quality gain.
The problem with this concept is, that it doesn't suit a mobile phone, since it will be hard to get a sufficiently large battery in there. if it was just a thin pocket camera, with a screen that did not cover 80+ percent of the other side of the device. And there wasn't need for mobile connectivity. Perhaps, it could make for a useful product.
Going beyond 2 sensors on the back, I fully believe in, but going with 9, and they will either be extremely bad, tiny sensors to be able to fit the optics in front of them while sitting above a lot of necessary components, or the device will have either/or huge bezels surrounding the screen and small battery.
