- the specs are more than ok
- the performance will probably be very good
- sadly, the design ruins-it (in my opinion).

Its hillarious how people are already bashing sony before seeing the photographs out of it. And coming tomore noise capture due to higher sensitivity, yes it natural, when you take in more light, it means taking in more noise too. But here its the b&w sensor that does this job, and its without a bayer filter. I am sure sony has some trick up its sleeves. So haters please calm down and wait for the photo samples.

Even Mi8 Explorer had better video and photos on a promo and this device cost half og Sony and offers much better specs and less bulky phone.

LG Superfan, 12 Jul 2018High ISO means better detail brighter pricture and alot of ... moreIt does not mean better detail. And clearly don't uses a lot less noise reduction. And having to get a lot of excess noise and use lots of reduction means anything but quality. Go learn about cameras and processing before commenting on them.
The only saving grace is that Sony are decent with how they treat noise. Better than most.

Great. They can shoot videos with high noise rates.
Ois and an improved aperture would yield better results. But no.
Even with higher iso. Then it would better in both ways.

I thought P20 Pro had highest ISO 102400 is it true?

So yup, it would be helpful for 4K video...
But idk, maybe Fusion processor in XZ2 Premium solved that also.

                    Yup.
                    Best smartphone camera.
Disbelievers already have a good number of video and photo sample compares on the web and yt to check out.
Sony made a "make believe" cam with Aube Fusion.

Anonymous, 11 Jul 2018iso 100000000 but no OIS...You so many people are having bad time understanding the techs, the high ISO values gives the phone the opportunity to take the picture at high shutter speeds, the capability of taking the photos at high shutter speeds makes the OIS feature useless, the OIS gives you the opportunity to take photos at low shutter speeds since it give you perfect steadiness, however it is not the ideal, even if it gives you steadiness but the moving objects will still blur.....

KamAbdi, 12 Jul 2018Well with this one you will :) I don't want to ever.. You are trying to say ISO sensitivity of this sensor is more than my Nikon D850? Even If i get the Nikon D5, I won't shoot at higher ISO, just because no matter how good the sensor is, ISO is a bad thing. This is the first and foremost rule of Photography.
I shoot tons of Night posters.. and Higher ISO is always bad.

Anonymous, 12 Jul 2018if that statement is used by apple or samsung then what you sayif this improvement would appear on an iphone than it would the biggest improvement ever and would cost US1500 and every fanboy would buy it with failed waterproof test and one year warranty (shame)

apples biggest "improvement" was in recent years that they sold out all 3,5" LCD panel from warehouse and they finally stopped bullshitting about optimal phone size.
Maybe Sony doesn't spend such a huge money to "improvements" and "marketing" but their new ideas are more potent as apple companies ever. Iphone was a huge technology jump at start. Then they followed the market with the exponential growth of "bullshit generator department".
Sony was always pioneer in technical. It was and it will be forever. This "small" market shared company is one head astep. Haters will never like that.

[deleted post]I often use 960fps. If you are a bit smart you can make awesome shots with this feature.
The only one issue is that it's 720p on xz premium. But that is solved now. 1080p 960fps will be great.

Believe me, this short 960p shot looks awesome if you watch it as a part of a video.
