All windows phone OS suck. But the mango is quite good and smooth. I liked it but still lacks apps support. So it will need time. The worst thing about WP is the Zune. Android has grown a lot and still growing at an impressive rate. In here if you ask for a windows phone at a shop, they will laugh at you first lol. All are Droids, iPhones, BlackBerrys and some Nokias..so the CEO is right indeed. At least better than Elop, admitted that they didn't take the iPhone seriously.

well, he admitted that se should have taken apple seriously when iphone came out. and he's making a big mistake again. Give him a couple of years, and i will be waiting for the day, as well as remembering this day, when he makes another statement that he should have taken wp7 seriously as well. Making an error the first time is just a mistake, and he should have learned from it. But making an error the second time is plain stupidity. oooohhhh, that day will come :)

At another site I read this on a comment and I think this is a valid point as well. Its not word to word:

Sony Ericsson needs fast recovery and for that they need to go with something that is strong, so the logical choice is Android compare to Windows Phone on its current status.

Windows will grow with time, it will take time to get to be among leading runners. And as I said to elsewhere few days back that Sony Ericsson should lean toward MeeGo too, that is an OS a company like Sony Ericsson can do great things the way they want. Yes I know MeeGo is going through major changes including name change but it should be an ideal pick for them.

That title is misleading, it should have been "Sony Ericsson's CEO prefers Android but curious about WP7"

Your feedback is really good without any bias. As a business man he can only invest on the current successful OS, he can't bet on the future one without knowing its sales success. Again based on his words, that he is "curious about WP7" he might will invest on WP7 also if it succeeds.

Its true Android is presently a better ecosystem than windows phone 7. It could change in the future but both of them arent going to disappear.. Moreover, SE did have a cancelled windows phone project..

Android is like the pc of mobiles, and windows phone is like another apple. I wouldnt prefer using a more restricted OS such as windows phone.

That said CEO of the company that is using android and not using WP7 platform.
This is such a biassed opinion, obviously.

Bert Nordberg underestimated the Android platform and took some time to enter into the android world thats why still they are tiny player in the smartphone market. Who knows he might under estimated the Windows Platform as of now. The windows platform is lagging only in the number of apps as of now but otherwise it is excellent in responsiveness and offering the all round facilities for a smartphone. Windows development community in one of the biggest in the world will create more and more apps in a short while I think so...

Their regular phones are missed in market and old phones are still in use. If they are going this way, it is maybe due to not having a good OS to go with low-cost handsets.

I think going by this year they have been awesome and the updates for Android well ahead of Samsung, HTC etc. I give them a round of applause for the hard work they have put in this year already! Keep it up SE I will never leave your brand!

WP7 is really going to be the future hit looking at how things have been building up so far. And if Samsung really put more effort in their Bada OS, Bada can be the real under dog in this race as well. But i just hope Meego will be develop more by Intel in near future because it really has the potential to be the killer OS.
