This and the 808 use half inch sensors which are bigger. And most guides that show and explain sensor and pixel size show a smaller scale for an 1/1.7.
So is it good tech or are they too crammed?
But 0.8um seems too small regardless. Though today's tech and pixel bining could help a lot

      Oh yes! That is the right direction. Great to see big sensor cameras making a return to smartphones. First Huawei, and now Sony. Hopefully others will join in too & we'll get rid of those cheap 12 MP cameras we see on "flagship" phones. What a scam they're running!

          This will require a REALLY fast lens to make any sense... according to the Rayleigh Criterion.

                  Fat, heavy, inconvenient FPS position, curved screen and back, missing 3.5 jack....

                        I believe it's only proposal for phone .. Let's wait for the clear answer by the end of August.

If Sony doesnt give them great sensors, somebody else will..

                              That is a lot of megapixels. Looks like something they can market.

                                48mp should be enough for zoom-in, not sure however how its with quad bayer and sony's noise reduction. Zoom-in on 808 was/is great.
