I chose "Rear Camera" just for voting sake, but frankly no one should never have to choose, for what smartphones cost nowadays (especially flagships) both Rear and Front cameras should equally be good.

Rear facing camera is definitely the main camera. But I will say front camera is definitely a huge factor as well. That's why I got Pixel 2. Perfect pictures all the time.

I'd buy a smartphone with 2 gigs of RAM, 4" screen, >2mm side bezels and >10mm top&bottom bezels, headphone jack, microUSB, and no front camera. The only way I ever use a camera in my phone is when my compact camera I carry every day runs out of battery, which is like once a week, and I do shoot a lot with it. And I never, ever do selfies. Not even when someone asks to do a selfie with me.

We can have both if we really want to. There's nothing wrong with having a good rear shooter and a front shooter at the same time.
Why choose one over the other if we can have both anyways??
If you ask which one would one prefer is very subjective, but it could potentially lead to OEMs to cut cost on the losing side and harming the minority of the losing camp for being outnumbered by the majority of the other side; if ever they see the results of this poll, that is.

Selfies are the embodiment of personal vanity. There's no need to have a more detailed ego. On the other hand the external world can be beautiful, but often is ruined by poor rear cameras. All in for rear!

Anonymous, 29 Jul 2018Since the selfie camera (5mp) is bad on the LG V30 I set a ... moreI had the Xperia C ( made to rival Moto G1).
Front cam is lame, 0.3MP only with f2.4 or 2 6 I dont know exactly.
There is a option that a voice helps you use the rear cam to take selfies, it says if phone is in right position to shoot or if you need to move it up/diwn/ left/right

For adults the rear camera. I get tired of watching vertical video and pictures though. Maybe more people could learn that they don't have to hold the phone in a vertical position to shoot video.

My vote was for rear camera but I don't really approve of the recent downgrades to front cameras from LG and Sony-the price of the phones never get a downgrade year on year

Clearly the rear one ! The selfie camera is already good enough..Also I am not the one who use filters etc. But I like to travel and a good rear camera is an important part for me when I choose which phone to buy.

Whackcar, 29 Jul 2018Yeah, it started with the Oppo N1 if i remember correctly. ... morenot even remotely close!
Oppo N1 was almost 3rd or 4th phone with rotating cam!
the very firs one was a Siemens phone called U10 back in 2003 and second one was Nokia N800 back in 2007 and than in 2013 Oppo N1 come with idea!(i assume there was another manufacture who build rotating cam in cell phone before oppo but i couldn't find it s i just go with oppo being 3rd one)
about debate: i will Choose back cam over front in heart beat!
why? well with back display or some training you can shoot Selfie with back cam if you need! personally, i hardly used my phones front facing cam!(like 2 or 3 times in almost 3 year each) so i can live with one cam at back!
