What is aestetically pleasing about a phone that has its back or its front shattered?
I dont want to sheep out a new phone every half a year or do repairs...
Its a conputer in a palm... it has to be functional, not pinky aesthetic.

LOL. People think cases are for the poor who can't afford phones. Seriously??
I'm quite rich , i have have two flagship phones. I seriously will get pissed off if my phone breakdowns in between of my work because time is money. Not using a case is just to show off. Using a case is smart and you get to show off and you don't need to worry on petty slips. You really are willing to take pain to change phones when you don't have enough time to waste on setting up a new one? Use a diamond studded case.. lol.. show off.

It is a consumable that wears off, gets outdated, and needs to be replaced eventually. Just like any laptop, TV, and any random electronic device, just like cars, clothes, shoes - these are all consumables.
Would you buy one pair of $1000 shoes when you have an average salary and then call it an investment and put protective stuff on them?
Same with phones. If you feel the need to protect them and even think of them as investments, you do not actually afford them. A phone is something which you should be able to replace immediately, without having to save up. And without getting a mini heart attack every time you drop them on the floor.

Depending on how a manufacturer does it. Plastic phones can actually look premium and be more durable than their metal or glass backed counterparts. The matte black flagship lumias are a good example of premium looking and feeling phones. Other manufacturers just outright never try when it comes to plastic.

"Enjoy your phone the way it was meant to be" well sometimes the manufacturer includes a case in the box so basically it's telling the customer they should use a case.
In 2018 where all the phones have vertically placed dual cameras , a glass back and a round finger print scanner it's kinda hard to differentiate one device from another they all look way to similar and a case is a pretty good way to have something different.

We really only need to be asking this because of manufacturers marketing has people believe anything other than glass and metal isn't "premium". Motorola, Blackberry and Sony etc have utilised kevlar, rubber and nylon not to mention yesteryears polycarbonate. These devices weren't only more durable but resistant to fingerprints and anti slip. They didn't look too shabby either.

Just buy something which you can repair or replace entirely, each and every month, without breaking the bank.
Take a minute to consider how much money you are ok with spending each month on a phone, and voila! That's the amount of money you should be spending on your phone. That is exactly what you can afford.
And no, you can't just multiply that amount by the number of months you expect to use said phone, and, for example say that if you are ok with $100 a month for a phone, and if you are planning to use said phone for 1 year, you can buy a $1200 phone. That's just not true. You can buy said phone, but you can't actuallly afford it. That is because you can't afford to break it, damage it, or repair it without feeling a sting in your pockets.
It's as easy and as simple as that. But since most people ar bad at managing their money, they fall in the trap of buying things which they can buy initially, but they can't afford to maintain/use/replace in the long run. When you buy a Mercedes, you must also be prepared to pay $2000 for a mirror, $1500-$3500 or even $10.000 for a revision and repairs, etc.
Isn't it funny to see those people who spend most of their money on a car and then they don't use it too often because it "eats" too much gasoline, and you even see them washing their car in front of their house by HAND, instead of paying someone to take care of it.
Just as funny as those people who buy expensive phones but they wrap them in all sorts of plastic, silicone, and rubber cases, because they can't afford to buy a new one in case that one breaks.

If you use a case = you CAN'T AFFORD to replace the screen or the back glass or the whole phone in case it gets damaged; and you want to sell it for an extra $20-$30 after 2-3 years of usage compared to a phone with normal wear and tear that has a few scratches, a few nicks on the sides, etc.
Just buy a phone which you can replace once a month without leaving a hole in your pocket, and you won't think about using it with a case. That's the phone that you CAN AFFORD.

Would love to use NO case on my mi mix 2 special ed., but its not possible. The all ceramic unibody prevents all scratches, which is awesome but makes it more than just slippy. A phone larger than 5" with glass or ceramic body is just a dropaddict, therefore I have to use a case. I did tend to use glass protectors too, but did drop that idea with 2.5D glass, it just looks awful. Im a fan of "naked" phones in a thin wool/fabric-sleeve - but since no one wants plastic on their phones its impossible to handle a 6" without hassle.

Case is necessary, I dropped my oneplus 6 (glossy black) accidentally from my pocket and the back glass just got hammered and change of back panel costing a bomb from authorised service center

Personally I don't like the case, I want the phone nake to feel the sense of touch on the premium material such as glass and metal.

I never liked phones cases and never use them, but my phone was denied a repair under warranty because of a few scratches.

Well im always use a transparant softcase. So i have no problem, lol.
