What about the creative destruction? It's look like fortnite too :D

It's not a problem to me if the app itself is well-optimized on Android devices.
The thing is that the apps are barely optimized on Android devices due to how many hardware components are there on Android platform (Snapdragon, Exynos, Kirin, Surge, MediaTek, Spreadtrum, etc.)
I feel like chipmakers should be responsible for also building their own software team to develop all apps and work well with their own chipsets.

A while ago I played ROS on my Redmi 5 Plus and using balanced graphics settings with FPS Mode on, it suddenly started to lag when moving around, as if there's suddenly something that f*cked up the SoC and had it tired. The phone didn't feel anything super hot by any means (14nm efficiency) but after quitting the otherwise great gameplay, I checked and figured out that there's only 700mb RAM free out of 4GB, and that is with just the game itself being opened and used.
It just clearly shows the lack of great compatibility of apps for Androids, which is sad since they are the most used mobile OS among all the others in the world.
It has been like this ever since Android has started, and I'm sad that we barely even become better than this.

Why??? Are you shy because other battle rolaye games already popular than you? Are you shy because you selling it with cash in playstore?

why pay on the website, sure its risky out there.. there will be free apk soon lol. not putting on playstore will be their own loss

the way i see it, there are already a lot of title with fortnite on the google store that are claiming to be fortnite because of google poor app screening. it would be unfair to people searching fornite on the google store and downloading the "fake" fortnite. lets admit it that not everybody it that knowledgable on games, they just hear about fortnite being good, search the google store and download the first app on the search result thinking it was the one.

kingrichmond, 04 Aug 2018I don know what people are whining over. If Epic don't want... moreThe fact that that stupid game is not on the official Play Store involves multiple risks.
1- It's letting a bunch of malware-filled copycats pop up on the Play Store because that's where uninformed people are expecting it to be.
2- Lazy people will just know that the APK is online Thus they are exposing themselves to going to unofficial websites and get malware.

I don know what people are whining over. If Epic don't want Google to be the carrier of their game so be it. If you want to play the game well download it from Epic Website. If you don't stop whining and hating :(

Thats all im saying. Yeah, word will spread about how stupid this move is.

They just need this out there to provide an alternative to mobile gaming, and don't worry about this flying under everyone's radar, word will definitely spread.

We'll see. Less download might cause Epic crawling back to Google. Average people wont know how to download android Fortnite unless its on play store. As if vast majority of people would read this news and aware of it.

Epic couldn't negotiate a better deal with Google so they throw their customers under the bus, exposing the average person to malware.

Anonymous, 03 Aug 2018its will only invite hacks and other malware. aka problems ... moreEpic would have the budget to get the latest security patches for a game, I'd doubt that they'd have much problems with regard to malware or hacks...

AnonD-454049, 03 Aug 2018What are you smoking gsmarena? The author's second last lin... moreWhat do you mean? GSMArena is clearly not backing Epic Games for their thinking/dealing with their business - nor backing them up.

Google and Apple offers a place where hundreds of millions of people can easily download and pay for in-game items, however Epic Games or whatever it's called - it already has the popularity, it's already exposed like hell - I think even my grandma knows or at least heard of Fortnite by now.

If I'd be in the head office there, I sure would have consider not uploading it to the Play Store as by that time I would've already spent a ton on marketing - so why would I/they give 30% cut to a completely different business that might not improve their stats drastically?

Fans who are addicted, love the game and are willing to purchase in-game will download it no matter which client it's coming from.

Whether its the Right move or not remains to be seen, but letting google leech of a popular product would've probably soured Epic's pride.
